Europe opens door to sanctions on Iran after terror plots in Denmark, Paris

European leaders are opening the door to possible sanctions on Iran in the wake of terror plots across the continent -- even as they criticize the Trump administration for reimposing sanctions on the Islamic Republic’s oil exports and financial dealings.

Denmark’s intelligence agency on Tuesday said that it had foiled an Iranian plot to kill an opposition activist, and had arrested a Norwegian of Iranian descent. The suspect has denied the allegations and is being held in custody. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denied any involvement and has issued a “strong protest” to the Danish government.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Danish diplomats are now calling for sanctions on Tehran, and the idea won broad support at a Wednesday meeting of E.U. ambassadors -- with at least eight countries backing calls for action -- including France and the U.K.

They have no choice. They either join the sanctions or be sanctioned.

“...opening the door to possible sanctions...”

Translation: zip, zero, nada sanctions

This is Europe we’re talking about.

Not a ball in the continent. Save for Poland and Hungary.

Just using it as a convenient excuse, since they couldn’t get President Trump to back down. It must really suck for European “leaders” that their lap dog poodle Obama is out of office.

Better late than never? I don’t think so. Go back 200+ years ago when Jefferson took on the Barbary pirates. Europeans wouldn’t stand up for themselves. They thanked us afterwards for getting their citizens back.

“They thanked us afterwards for getting their citizens back.”

I don’t think Europe would thank us today if we had just ended WWIII over in their backyard. They are the most ungrateful bunch of $hit masquerading as people I’ve ever seen. I know we would never fail to help them, but I’d like to see us make them pay for our saving their worthless a$$es if it ever happens again. They have very short memories.

Or, NO memory. I met a British WWII veteran in the 80’s who absolutely believed Britain was winning the war before Pearl Harbor and that we just piled on to get the spoils - which of course is completely and objectively untrue. He was not alone. Even WITH our help, Britain was less than 60 days from mass starvation and raw material shortages.

OTOH, I’ve found French people (real French people, not Parisians) very aware of the contributions of America to their country - perhaps more so than the average American is aware of the contributions the French had made to our success, particularly in the 19th Century.

They are ALL poodles over there!

Actually a jellyfish is more fitting as it has no spine, but at least they can have stingers.

I just looked it up. We lost 114,000 in Europe so the idea that we “piled on to get “spoils” doesn’t pass the sniff test. As for your comments regarding the French, you are spot on. In my travels in France, I have witnessed the warmth of the “country French” toward Americans for what we did to drive the Germans out of their country. The Parisians are the exception, but they’ve had a stick up their asses about Americans forever anyway.

The social justice cancer started in the US when you embraced the Frankfurt school subversives and let them poison your media, culture and education systems and spread this cultural cancer to the rest of the world. Hollywood even today maintains a massive cultural influence on the world so gtfo with your blaming Europe for this bs.

Over the years I’ve wondered why we are so kids gloves off Iran.

Especially nowadays when the oil is not as important, why we don’t just carpetbomb Tehran. If for nothing else but their active support of killing our soldiers in Iraq.

Um, no. I talked to elderly Frog, in France, who was convinced that the French won WWII. This was near the German border.

Denmark will likely wake up and do something. The tiny country still knows who the hell it is. For France, as long as macaroon is president, no. He’ll go on thinking that he can create a kinder, gentler *slam, French style.

You had too much absinthe, Emanuel!
