I don’t know about the study, but if I go too long without coffee I turn into a psycho.
These people are lunatics. The Army always had plenty of coffee. They seldom had cream and sugar. On a cold, wet, dark night that hot black coffee tasted pretty damn good.
Take your canteen cup and put it on the back deck of your tank.
Take the coffee, cocoa, sugar and cream from your MRE and put them in your canteen cup.
Add a dash of 30 weight oil and a spoonful of mud or sand.
Mix with water if you have some. If not, use more oil.
You can drink it or clean your machineguns with it.
I find strong, black, unsweetened coffee (not decaf — yuk!) useful for migraines. It dilates the blood vessels.
Other than that, though, I like it with whole milk.
Guess I’m not a psychopath? Except when I get migraine?
Fats carry the flavor notes.
I’ve been known to reference that scene to the waitress when my 90 year old mom orders coffee.
Usually gets a chuckle.
