For all the media fixation on the "lies" President Trump tells, sometimes he has an uncanny knack of telling the unvarnished truth.
So it was on Friday night when Trump told those gathered at a West Virginia rally: "Sometimes it’s not as exciting to talk about the economy because we have a lot of other things to talk about."
That unscripted line left some Republican strategists nodding in agreement and wondering about what might have been. Republicans are bracing for the loss of the House of Representatives with operatives citing the lack of a coherent economic message and unnecessary distractions as decisive factors.

GOP institutional impotence is a background matrix that has existed my whole life. I’d love to see Trump do spring cleaning after the mid-term, no matter the results.

Yes, they got played by the Dems. The thing is that there are a whole lot of people doing better and a whole lot of students out there actually looking forward to the job market rather than dreading it.
We are told that rhetoric is everything in political campaigns, but I think that isn’t true. When there is no discernable rhetoric the Dems blame “dog whistle” rhetoric, and there is no doubt that they will do that this time too, especially if the GOP manages somehow to hang onto the House. The thing is, though, that facts are facts. More money in your pocket, better prospects, less crime. Are these dog whistles or simply results? Well, we will see if the results get results.
Reason would suggest you are right. I am worried about Uniparty fun and games with the results.
I would not give a fig for the opinions of Luntz or Norquist. Conventional wisdom would have given us President Hillary Clinton and a Democrat House and Senate.
Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce Republicans, only Thursday did they begin running ads about the caravan & illegals here in PA. I’m afraid it’s too late.
