Yes, they got played by the Dems. The thing is that there are a whole lot of people doing better and a whole lot of students out there actually looking forward to the job market rather than dreading it.
We are told that rhetoric is everything in political campaigns, but I think that isn’t true. When there is no discernable rhetoric the Dems blame “dog whistle” rhetoric, and there is no doubt that they will do that this time too, especially if the GOP manages somehow to hang onto the House. The thing is, though, that facts are facts. More money in your pocket, better prospects, less crime. Are these dog whistles or simply results? Well, we will see if the results get results.
