CAIRO Egypt said Sunday that security forces have killed 19 militants in a shootout, including the gunmen suspected of killing seven Christians in an attack on pilgrims traveling to a remote desert monastery.
The Interior Ministry, which oversees the police, said the militants were tracked to a hideout in the desert west of the central province of Minya, the site of Fridays attack, which also left 19 people wounded.
It said the alleged militants opened fire when they realized they were being besieged by security forces. It did not say when the shootout took place.
The ministry published photographs purporting to show the bodies of the slain militants, as well as rifles, shotguns and pistols. Other images showed the inside of a tent and the black banner of the Islamic State group - which claimed responsibility for Fridays attack - unfurled on the ground.

Egyptian President SISI wasted no time in finding them and ending this. His security forces did the job.
No nation in the world should defend or shelter ISIS animals. Including Turkey.
Thanks Texas Fossil. Glad the Egyptian forces could pull it off this time.
This does not surprise me at all. They are punishing the Egyptian Christians because they support President Sisi.
He was a great general and Egyptians love him for what he did to remove the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorists. It was never easy, but he did the right thing.
It didn’t say how many wounded militants were taken to receive medical attention.
Well, it is possible there were none.
Ya, think?
I think it's more accurate to say, they're continuing to persecute and attack Coptic Christians, because that's been the Islamic course of action since the conquet of Egypt by the muzzies. I've noticed that the DNC talking points are to continue to claim that Morsi was the first democratically elected leader of Egypt (what a ridiciulous claim) and that under al-Sisi Egypt has become a huge violator of human rights -- apparently Copts are not regarded as humans by the DNC.
All true
Yep, I think.
