Tapper Presses Georgia's Abrams on Gun-Control Bill, She Claims 'Conversation'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/05/2018 4:22:21 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Kudos to Jake Tapper. On his State of the Union CNN show this morning, not only did Tapper raise with Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams the legislation she introduced as a member of the Georgia legislature that would have forced Georgians to surrender their "assault weapons." Tapper then twice pressed Abrams on it as she tried to dance away.

Abrams's weasel word of the day: "conversation." No fewer than five times Abrams claimed she was merely trying to start a "conversation" on the subject. Sorry, Ms. Abrams: when you introduce legislation, you're not merely starting a conversation. You're expressing what in your heart-of-hearts you believe is the best solution to the problem at hand.

Watch Abrams try to weasel away, claiming her gun-grabbing bill was only meant to start a “conversation.”

And Tapper goes after her on it three times. He also is careful to call them “so-called” assault weapons.

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism.

Did she actually introduce confiscation legislation?

If so, that is hardly “starting a conversation”! It is an overt attack on the citizenry.

“Did she actually introduce confiscation legislation?”

Yes. As a member of the Georgia state legislature, she was a co-sponsor of a bill that would have forced people to surrender their “assault weapons.”

1) They don’t quite look like AK’s to me.
2) when Abrams loses the race, she could win a watermelon seed spitting contest no worries. That is some gap in her front teeth!
3) Watermelon seeds aren’t racist, are they?!?!?

Kinda like when Sherrod Brown told me “let’s have blanket amnesty first, then we can determine how high to build the wall and how many border patrol agents we need.” Of course I told him he could go f himself.

Watermelon. Fried chicken. Greens. That poor white food, my people’s food.

Blacks have culturally appropriated it.

They don’t quite look like AK’s to me.

"AK47" is just Journalist shorthand for "Scary Black Boomstick.

Read on Free Republic that one expert identified the Black Panther firearms as a SCAR17, a C39V2 and a Remington 870 with a law enforcement folder.

Oh, she sent me a mailer that explained what the "conversation" would be.

"Guns are banned. Give them to the State or we will kill you."

She is the single worst Democrat candidate I’ve ever seen put up in Georgia. That she’s even remotely competitive in this race is an embarrassment for the state.

In Georgia, Atlanta rules all. Also true in many states that one liberal megalopolis dominates a largely rural majority.

Not quite. Dems THINK Georgia = Atlanta, but that’s not the case quite yet. Check out footage of the Trump rally in Macon, GA yesterday if you don’t believe me. Two hours before the event, the venue was already full, and there was a six mile line of cars waiting to get in.

I can’t imagine she will get much more than 43% of the vote.

I’m a Georgia native but have been living in Texas the last 20 years or so.

I can’t imagine that most of the friends and relatives I have living back there would even consider voting for her. I’ll concede that there might be a couple who would think that it would be “cool” to have a black, female governor and vote for her on that basis. I expect that most will vote against her; not because she’s female or black but because she’s a radical leftist. Gun grabbing doesn’t go over well in most of the state.

I expect she’ll do well in the Atlanta area. After all, Cynthia McKinney served six terms in the House.
