Wealthier people do less in the struggle against climate change

A collective-risk dilemma experiment with members of the public in Barcelona has shown that people are more or less likely to contribute money to fighting climate change depending on their how wealthy they are. And the results indicate that participants with fewer resources were prepared to contribute significantly more to the public good than wealthier people, sometimes up to twice as much.

These are the principal findings of a study by researchers who measured how a group of individuals acted in the face of a common threat.

To do so they designed a "lab-in-the-field" experiment involving more than 320 individuals divided into 54 groups of 6 people. The experiment was conducted as follows. A total of 240 euros was given to each group of individuals. Each member of the group was given a specific amount of money. In half of the groups the 240 euros were divided evenly into 40 euros for each member. In the other half, the money was distributed unevenly in quantities from 20 to 60 euros. Over the course of ten rounds, each person then had to contribute to a common fund in order to reach a specific goal, namely 120 euros to be used in an activity against climate change, in this case planting trees in Collserola. The participants were allowed to keep any money that was left over. At the start of the experiment, each participant knew how much money the other had and at the end of each round they could see how much money each person had contributed.

In this way, the researchers were able to test the economic effort that each individual was prepared to make for a common benefit, in this instance the fight against climate change.

It might be true.

Wealthy people are wealthy because they don’t like to throw money away.

Even the ones that talk big about climate change not only DONT DONATE, but they go around in private Jets pumping out fumes :)

Lower income folks might be persuaded more easily because they see the words “scientists” and “climate change” in the same sentence.

Either way, who gives a damn :)

As long as it’s their own private sucker mom, screw em.

I don’t want the govt spending a DIME to fight “climate change”

It’s my contention that your alleged “environmental footprint” is directly proportional to the sum of the money you earn and the money you spend.

People who are truly concerned about their “environmental footprint” would therefore earn as little as necessary and spend as little as possible.

I don’t see anybody in Hollywood, the gaslight press, or Congress doing that.

This is proof that wealthier people got that way by being SMART.

A wealthy person understands what money is worth. They know that— EVEN IF AGW WAS REAL — 120 Euros is meaningless. It can do a lot more good locally than pissing in the ocean to make the tide level rise.

Once again, leftists draw the lines, then plot the points.

To me, the results indicate that people with lower incomes also have lower IQ's and buy into the Climate Change crap. My hypothesis is every bit as conclusive as theirs. The old correlation/causation argument.

Many of the wealthy who pump for climate change radicalism realize it is a way for them to siphon money out of the lower and middle class and put it in their own pockets.

Different scenario. Bring your tax bills showing how much has been confiscated from your earnings by the government. The wealthy pay massive taxes...much of which is directed to social spending and asinine climate change. They have paid enough.

Some of us are old enough to have lived through the global cooling hysteria (1970s) which became the global warming hysteria (1990s) which is now just the climate change hysteria.

Surprisingly the cure for all three of them was exactly the same-- surrender your money and political power to us and we will fix it.
