Volunteers used every bit of the daylight Monday to knock on doors before polls open in the morning.
In Collin County, the GOP set a 72-hour goal of knocking on 13,401 doors, with close to 10,000 of that total on Monday alone.
It kept a phone on the ear of Gabriela Perdichizzi all day. "We're covering all corners of the county," Perdichizzi said. "We got people walking in McKinney, people in Plano, Allen and Frisco."
One day after state representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) put out a call for block walkers during a Ted Cruz rally in Fairview, areas across the county were busy Monday. Lily Bao was one of them. She started block walking earlier this year for state senator Van Taylor, who is running for Congress in Texas' 3rd District.
"We love America, and we love Texas," Bao said. "And we don’t want it to turn blue.”
In Dallas County, Democrats were fanned out in eastern parts of the county in Mesquite and Garland, block walking for state representative Victoria Neave, who is in a tight reelection campaign in District 107.
Tristeza Ordex-Ramirez and Azhalia Leal walked, knocked and waited. At some homes, no answer. At another, a registered voter who plans to cast their first ballot on Tuesday.
Grace Coleson was too young to vote in 2016 but said she and her friends are motivated this year. "The first time is a big deal for all of us to do it," Coleson said. "I'm voting straight Democratic."
Ordex-Ramirez said she first voted in 2016. The military veteran says after that election, she became motivated to take a more active role. "People are going to say ‘oh well we’re not going to turn it (Texas) blue.’ Maybe we will, maybe we wont but I know if I reach one voter that said ‘I’ve never voted', then all that work is worth it.”

Parts of Collin are very red BUT there are other parts that are 60-40 according to Collin County GOP research
I blocked walked for last 3 days in SW Collin. It is 60 % red but I was disappointed at all the stupid Beeto signs.
That is correct. Presumably north Collin is solid Republican but the county as a whole is far less reliable than in the past.
Trump got 55.6% in Collin in 2016 which is a good number by U.S. standards and just meh by Texas standards. Denton fits exactly the same description as Collin, regarding its past and present tendencies — from “solid Republican” to “leans Republican for now but going quickly the wrong way” as the sewage from Dallas and Ft. Worth seeps northward.
Considering that the dem party was paying 15 bucks an hour for walkers...... They had the jobs posted on Indeed....
I’m glad there were volunteers on our side. Dallas county is lost, here is hope for Collin.
I just moved into very blue neighborhood in southwest Plano. We are doing are part to turn it red. MAGA!

I’m in Allen and there are almost no Cruz signs. It confused me for a while since this is a very conservative area, but found out that dems have been stealing Cruz signs. No big surprise I guess. They have no scruples.
A mix of well-off and poor minorities have turned this area purple-ish in my 2+ decades here. Highly technological center here and in the surrounding suburbs.
No surprise they are now voting along their lineage and against their interests...

Yesterday I talked with 3 LEGAL immigrants from different countries but all wanted me to know they came here legally and are so proud.
One, from Iran , knew every great thing Trump had done and loved Cruz> He was puzzled why anyone would vote to undo the good that had been done. He wished he could explain to every liberal how great it is here, that people have freedom and opportunity.
A lady from Mexico says people just don’t want to understand that we can’t keep allowing these people in ho do not want to do it right like she did.
Then there was an Asian couple who were so proud to have voted. They told me not to worry. Cruz win.
All of them were so proud to be Americans and wanted people who were born here to appreciate it more.
I’m also in Allen. The apartment folks probably wouldn’t let me put up TedCruz signs at the entrance to our complex. Of course, I never tried. Lots of Beto signs around town. A few Cruz signs.
I work in the Tech industry and have had quite a few political discussions with people I work with who are relatively new U.S. citizens. They did it the legal way and are disgusted by illegals crossing the border. Most are very conservative and want Texas to remain a red state. They even complain about the liberals migrating in from failed blue states.
Yep. I lived there for quite a while. Red, red, red.
Good to hear! I’m basing my perception on the ultra-libs at my wife’s tech company, one of the big tech companies. She has to keep her views to herself ... or else.
