Austin is way too liberal.

They obviously did not make that an important factor in their judging.

But then looking at the list, I’m not sure they are that much more liberal than the rest of them. The site lists the worst cities as well. And most of them are even more liberal. I think the bottom line is that any large city is liberal these days.

They need to add a couple of places on their ‘worst’ list:

-Seattle, WA
-Monterey, CA

Both of these places are openly hostile to military.

Austin is way too liberal.

Was gonna say, it's probably one of the few places where veterans still get spit on.

There’s not even a VA hospital in Austin.

My brother lived there. He took a bus 50 miles away to Temple to the VA.

A veteran should live in San Antonio.

End of story.

Half the Army is already retired in Colorado Springs.

We have a lot of retirees here in Orlando, too.

Your list of cities that are openly hostile to the military should include the entire west coast north of Camp Pendleton. The military is loved in San Diego. The military closed all bases in Northern California (Fort Ord, Alameda Naval Air Station, the Presidio, etc.) because our military leaders got sick of the anti-war demonstrators at the front gates.

Best places based on income, not VA Healthcare.

The Mather VA Medical Facility (Sacramento) is clearly the best in the system.

EVERYONE who uses it sings its praises.

At least those who are Priority 1 or 2.

It’s obvious they didn’t include taxes in their evaluation.

With the current VA choice program, living farther than 40 miles from the closest VA facility automatically qualifies you for VA Choice and you can see a civilian doctor with the VA covering everything.

Actually the greater Houston area is pretty good. I am being treated for cancer at M.D. Anderson, the top cancer center in the world, and the VA Choice program is paying 100% of the costs.
