HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A former Navy SEAL was elected Tuesday night to become Texas' youngest congressional representative.
Dan Crenshaw will replace outgoing Republican Rep. Ted Poe in U.S. House District 2.
Crenshaw, 34, was a first-time political candidate who learned some political lessons early on after being forced into a runoff, finishing second by just 155 votes.
The Republican went on to win the nomination to face off with Democratic challenger Todd Litton for the open seat.
A second dose of political reality set in over the weekend when his war injury became the butt of a joke on "Saturday Night Live."

Your welcome. I was one along with my wife that put Crenshaw over the top in the primary.
I was very impressed at his adult type, non hysterical behavior after that SNL remark. He’s right though. We need to be moving away from expecting or demanding an apology every time somebody says something rude or untimely.
That used to be a trait more often seen in Asian cultures, as a way to ‘save face’. Now it’s over here.
SNL may have given him the boost in attention at just the right time.

This is the best news coming out of the house. It is going to be a three ring circus in the house for two years with the side show freaks chairing the committees though.
Meanwhile, newly single Pete has a date with Handrea.
good to see it, and in the primary some in the GOP didn’t treat him well.
