Voters in WA State Pass Massive Gun Control Initiative

For months, gun control advocates in Washington State have peddled initiative 1639, which moves to create stricter firearms laws. On Tuesday, 60 percent of Washingtonians voted in favor of ballot measure, the Seattle Times reported.

Specifically, i-1639 will:

• Raise the age someone can purchase a rifle to 21. • Create an "enhanced background check system similar to what is used for handguns." • Require a person to complete a firearms safety training course. • Create a common stand for secure gun storage.

Those in favor of the measure believe that even further gun laws will prevent mass shootings.

“My generation has been defined by gun violence. We have been defined by continued and repeated inaction by our elected officials,” Stephen Paolini, 22-year-old campaign manager for 1-1639, told supporters on Tuesday. “I hope tonight this victory is a message to our elected officials: Enough is enough.”

Alan Gottlieb, the Founder and Executive Vice President of the Second Amendment Foundation, said he's prepared to go to court to challenge the legality of the measure.

Hmmmm. Seems to me that state office elections should be determined in a similar manner as the President. Rural counties and constituents are more and more NOT being represented by those (s)elected by the YUGE population centers. Maybe the victors should be determined by the percentage of counties that vote in their favor.

Go to the courts.
This is incremental de facto destruction of the Second Amendment.

No, Stephan, your generation has NOT been defined by gun violence. It is seemingly defined by sentimentality, emotional outbursts, Left wing idiocacy, and a holier than thou (though it often seems it’s overrun by those in a Romans 1:18-32 condition) attitude.

Now that WA is a gun free zone the crazies have a new hunting ground free of citizen armed zealotry. They will learn what “defined by gun violence” really means.

"My generation has been defined by gun violence."

Yo Stevie! Why does it take government bureaucrats to force you to behave in a civilized manner? Are you all morons? Are you also going to expect them to make laws about taking "selfies" to keep you idiots from killing yourselves by falling off of cliffs?

We are ruled by spineless urbanites. They emerge in legions from the universities to feed on us.

What friggin’ idiots. There is absolutely zip, zero, nada in this bill that will stop a person intent on killing people.
