Having the most money doesn't always win elections.
2018 midterm election | 11/7/18 | dallasbiff

Robert Francis had the most material money and probably $50 million in free fawning media publicity and he still lost.

To paraphrase a 1964 song, Money can't buy you an election.

Dollars don’t vote. People do.

True but it helps.

The Democrats had a boatload of money here in Minnesota and they used it to beat the crap out of us in the suburbs.

Regular campaign contributions as well as a boatload of independent expenditures. It was non-stop and they set the narrative.

Of course it doesn’t. If it did, we’d have had a President H. Ross Perot and a President Steve Forbes.

WRONG!!!!!

He came as close as he did because of money!

The Republicans were overwhelmed in some areas because of money pouring in for Dem candidates.

Anyone watching Trump live news conference right now? He’s kicking ass and taking names while the press is asking “when did you stop beating your wife?” type questions.

One did to some degree and the other didn’t.

But it’s safe to argue that the losses we suffered in the Legislature were not as a result of running from Trump. The Democrats beat the crap out of us in many purple suburbs as well as some normally red suburbs.

Robert Francis(beto) still lost, even with a lackluster Cruz campaign.

I also want to thank my friend, who is a lackluster voter for going to the polls and voting against O’Rourke.

On the other hand, not getting off your duff to campaign is a great way to lose. This Texan is ashamed of Cruz not bothering to campaign. If it weren’t for Trump and common sense Texans, we’d have that fake Hispanic today.

I always thought this would be a close election especially when the democrats threw in the kitchen sink and bank vault and Cruz’s smugness did not help.

Trump got him over the finish line.

Should call him “O’Rourke” … how much of his pot o’ gold was left not spent by this leprechaun?

Money won’t buy victory for a bad candidate. It IS good for 5-10% in a close race, particularly if the candidate also is personable.

Abbott won by 14 points, there was a lot of ticket splitting.
