NEW YORK (AP) A jury has been picked for the U.S. trial of the Mexican drug lord known as El Chapo.
Seven women and five men were selected Wednesday as jurors in the case against Joaquin Guzman (wah-KEEN gooz-MAHN).
The trial is set to begin Nov. 13 with opening statements in federal court in Brooklyn.

Is Sean Penn on the jury?
Each Juror will need a complete Seal Team for protection.
Why can’t we just level Mexico?
He hasn’t got the guts to be on this jury.
Jurors will need 24/7/365 protection, particularly when Guzman is found “GUILTY”. (Even the “Alternates” need to worry)
Oh goodie. A super clown show to keep us entertained during the Christmas season.
Hopefully the will be daily updates, maybe even live threeads?
Poor folks, like these jurors will get protection for now and the future?
He never should have been tried in civilian court. He is a foreign national and his crimes are a matter of national security, and is considered an extremely dangerous offender. he should have been flown to a coral atoll and face a military tribunal.
Support Free Republic, Folks!
Our civilian population shouldn’t be expected to preside over the fate of a drug lord terror army supreme commander. This ain’t a traffic ticket or liquor store robbery.
Is the jury really anonymous? Assuming they’re sequestered, how hard is it to find out where a group of 12-15 people is being taken each day and what van they’re in?
That same thought came to mind. With dangerous thugs like him there should be a better way.
Probably not. That’s why one of the jurors broke down into tears and tried to get off the panel. The judge denied the request.
Plus unless the jail is at the courthouse, he has to be transported through the streets of Brooklyn twice a day. It’s insane.
Thats one lottery Im glad I lost.
I wonder if they can finally get a New York carry permit.
They sure deserve a carry permit but I’d bet the farm they won’t get one.
Doubt Feds could be trusted to protect them.
I wonder what Blackwater has been up to lately...
Too bad you can’t have a gun in NY.
12 dead folks, comin’ right up.
Good idea, actually.
