The Democrats Who Stand a Chance in 2020 [Beto Mania!!!]
Daily Beast ^ | November 8, 2018 | Jonathan Alter

The 2018 midterms were hugely significant on their own terms but they also serve as prologue for the Big Show: 2020, a presidential election as critical as any in American history. That’s why it’s not too early to start mulling over it.

Decent people around the world can hold out for another 24 months—especially with the check on President Trump now provided by a Democratic House. But six more years of exposure to Agent Orange should he win reelection would be a world-historical disaster.

Most of the article is behind a paywall but the 2nd part of the title states "There could be as many as 30 candidates (!). Who can stand out in a crowd like that? Hint: He lost Tuesday." I have to be think Kamala Harris and company are revving up the opposition research to knee cap RobertBeto.

I understand, and I could be wrong, that Wisconsin, PA and Michigan elected dem governors.

A. Did they already have dem governors?

B. Since Trump is an unusual case (populist as well as conservative) will it really help dems at all to have govs there?

Thanks for your insights

Letting an establishment Democrat “knee-cap” and lock out the outsider in the primaries didn’t work out too well in 2016 for them.

However, the last time they had a likeable or charismatic personality as an upstart win the primaries, they took the WhiteHouse for 8 years.

So the question is, has the DNC reformed it’s corruption? Lets hope they haven’t.

“But six more years of exposure to Agent Orange should he win reelection would be a world-historical disaster.”

Six more years of Trump would be a disaster for socialists around the world including snowflake Jonathan Alter, who obviously has full blown TDS!

Liberals and socialists and radical Muslim terrorists, are on the same side. Re-electing Trump would be a major disaster for their agendas.

This reminds me of the “Marco Rubio” enthusiasm among the media a few years back.

Despite looking like a high school kid the news stations were All Marco, All the time.

I could never understand it.

Decent people around the world can hold out for another 24 months.

I figure I am not a decent person by his reckoning, so there's no reason for me to continue reading.

As the late Jim White of KMOX radio in St. Louis used to say, "God save me from the 'good' people."

If the DNC throws its support behind Beto O’Rourke (a white male) early in the nomination process, that’s not going to go over well with supporters of Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren.

PA already had a Dem governor—Tom Wolf, a York businessman, who defeated the much-disliked Tom Corbett (issues were more image than substance) in 2014. His opponent this race, Scott Wagner, had some baggage from his prior voting record, as well as having made his money in garbage hauling (honest work, but easy to smear).

It didn’t help that the Dem Lieutenant Governor candidate was John Fetterman, the tatted-giant who was formerly Braddock (suburb of Pittsburgh) mayor—he had recognition and a degree of respect in Western PA. Most of us out here had never heard of Bartos, the Republican, before.

They’ll stump for whoever the 2020 Dem candidate is, but in the end, I don’t know that it will matter. Wolf was already here in 2016.

The exposure and the “broad” financial support (actually a consortium of billionaires from California) were supposed to be the magic window to showcase Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, the fake Hispanic, as the new face of the Democrat party.

Losing the Senatorial election was only a temporary setback for those who have ambitious plans for the “Beto male”.

Progressive punk rock, yeah, that’s the ticket!

You have to keep in mind that the left/liberals/media, are intellectually shallow, and have the emotional maturity of a 13-year old. Then it makes sense.

Once they realize they aren't going to defeat Trump in 2020, anyway, I think they are going to make the tactical decision to run someone like Kamala Harris to keep the all grievance groups happy. Then in 2024 when they back a white male like Gavin Newsom for the sake of "party unity" their chances will be a lot better.

Right now I don't see any Democrat who can beat Trump in 2020 - but I also don't see any any Republican who can carry his torch forward in 2024. The "good conservatives" today are all horribly charisma-challenged.

Mich had a GOP Governor who was term limited. We now have a Rat Governor and a Lesbian AG who said “anyone who has a penis is disqualified from prosecuting a Me Too allegation”. It is a miracle Trump carried Mich, we are infested with brain washed union a-holes.
