FULL TITLE: Alaska voters make history by rejecting judge who approved no jail time for man who 'choked, kidnapped and masturbated on a woman'

In an unprecedented move, Alaska voters have ousted a judge who signed off on a controversial plea deal that let a man serve only one year of home confinement for choking and masturbating on an Alaska Native woman.

Voters on Tuesday opted to not retain Superior Court Judge Michael Corey, who oversaw the assault sentencing of 34-year-old Justin Schneider.

Schneider in September pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year in prison. With credit for time served in home confinement, he walked out of the plea hearing a free man.

Sounds more like a Ted Kennedy weekend of merriment and other lewd aristocratic fun?

Judges can recognize good old fun vs. Real assault./s

Now, if Alakans would only get rid of Murkowski as well. But at least with the new Republican Senators who just won election, the country won’t have to put up with either Murky or Susan Collins any longer in their quest to replace Judges and confirm Exec Branch appointments.

“Wayyyyyyyy to many of these idiot judges letting criminals go...”

In illannoy you have a choice on the ballot to retain or fire judges. I always vote to throw them all out. Unfortunately, it rarely works.

Actually, as messed up as it is, he had almost no choice under their stupid SB91; first offense and all of that. One of those stupid laws about treating first offenses as an opportunity for rehabilitation (instead of the good whipping or execution most criminals deserve).

Shelley Hughes has acknowledged that SB 91 was a mistake and is now working toward repealing it.

It was NOT a mistake, and she has lied repeatedly about it since then...like "It worked in Texas". She still is avoiding responsibility for her vote with lies like "I didn't know that was in there", and "There are good parts in it", and Mike Dunleavey (our new governor) voted yes" (He voted NO)

She was warned in advance by every Law enforcement organization in the state, fellow Legislators Andy Josephson and Liz Vasquez who were both career prosecutors, and we the people. She responded to us with comments like "Oh legislation is just so complex".

She violated the party platform and went against her valley legislative cohorts, except Lynn Gattis who has paid the price with dual losses politically.

Hughes won the R primary for her Senate seat only because it was a three way race and the other two split the conservative vote.

When one commits manslaughter, the fact that one also cleaned a park once does not entitle one to avoid consequences.
