Yemen Slides into the Horrors of Famine
Der Spiegel ^ | Nov 2018 | Christoph Reuter

Posted on 11/09/2018 3:25:57 PM PST by CondoleezzaProtege

We know the war in Yemen from the images of bomb craters, injured babies in crumbling hospitals, dead bodies and rubble. But behind the horrors of battle lies a frequently overlooked danger that is just as deadly.

War-torn Yemen is experiencing the disastrous collapse of its currency. Food, fuel, medication and clean water is becoming astronomically expensive. The result is a looming famine that could become one of the biggest ever.

"There is now a clear and present danger of an imminent and great big famine engulfing Yemen: much bigger than anything any professional in this field has seen during their working lives," Mark Lowcock, the top UN coordinator for humanitarian relief, recently told the Security Council. Food, diesel for hospital generators, fuel for cars, water for drinking and cleaning, trash removal: All of that must be paid for with money that is worth less and less. And whether it is gold, land, cars or furniture, people have long since sold whatever they can to survive.

Just spent time over there. Saudi, Oman and UAE have more money than Doan’s have pills but somehow it is “our” problem? Give me a break! This is a Sunni/Shia, Arab/Persian issue. For the record, if the Saudi’s can’t handle a minor military issue on their southern border, it proves (again) they need the Christian nations of the world to protect them. Money talks.....

How did it start, our nightmare in ungrateful Somalia, with Blackhawk Down..?

It first started with loud caterwauling about Somali STARVATION:

I don’t care at all about Yemen.

Muzzies knock each other off like tins cans off a fence:

Not worth a single FINGER NAIL of one US serviceman.

Muslims have Charity as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The filthy rich Muslims all over the word should’ve able to feed little Yemen.

I read a book about the KGB back around 1987. It was written by a former agent who defected.

One little tidbit was that they considered North Yemen as the worst assignment a KGB agent could get.

Oh, no! We must stop the war immediately! We must save all of the people in Yemen! Yeah, the Houthis are radical Muzzies, but they can be semi-converted (sez Francis & Co.).

Hmmm...that didn’t work over the past 100+ years. Oh...I know! Let’s bring them all here!

Not. I’m an American—not a Euro-fascist. And I’m a believer—not a humanist.

Its not our problem. If they Yurps want to deal with it, feel free. If their Muslim brothers want to help them out, feel free.

Yep--a big mistake led by the Clintons. Those sweet, poor people in Somalia had so little respect for life, that they once sent a huge horde of children running at a column of APCs while attacking it with weapons.

My answer is no, too. If foreign religious charity gangs want to move those people to help them, then move them to the home of that religion. I'm fed up with it. Same with the Syrian refugees and all. Those so-called charities are causing way too much trouble right here, in the U.S.A.

And no to Barrett, too. Appoint a judge with a long record of conservatism to the Supreme Court again--not someone who focuses on bringing children here from ****hole countries for her efforts to take over our country for her religion under the guise of charity.

No more stealth lefties--not even a chance of one.

Yep. She called the Israelis occupiers and argued against Israel defending itself from Lebanon and Syria. Nuke Syria. Nuke Iran.

Send them all to Germany and to that Vatican compound. I thought they were on our side...*after* WW2. But I guess not, not really.

It is apparent after reading the replies on this thread, that most FReepers don’t know who/what has caused the famine in Yemen.

So, using US trained advisors, and military hardware purchased from the US, Saudi Arabia has bombed the roads, and ports through which Yemen receives food. Saudis have also bombed Wells/water sources.

Why? They want Yemen. Look at a map.
