A Wells Fargo executive who reportedly referred to women bank employees as "girls" or told them to put their "big girl panties on" will step down next year.
Without addressing claims made against him, Wells Fargo confirmed that private bank head Jay Welker would retire effective March 31. His coming retirement was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, which cited an internal memo.
A complaint against Welker was part of a larger internal investigation into allegations of discrimination by female executives in Wells Fargo's wealth management unit, the newspaper said. The bank spent months interviewing dozens of women after complaints were made of failure to promote and systemic belittling of female executives, according to the Journal.

As soon as I saw the words “Wells Fargo” , I stopped reading the article.
Ok people with vaginas...time to put on your big vagina unmentionables
PC Principal approves.
“Waaaah! He called us girls!! Waaaah!” - Grown women
The lady abbess no sooner heard this appalling cry, than she retreated to her own bedroom, double-locked the door, and fainted away comfortably. The boarders, and the teachers, and the servants, fell back upon the stairs, and upon each other; and never was such a screaming, and fainting, and struggling beheld. In the midst of the tumult, Mr. Pickwick emerged from his concealment, and presented himself amongst them.
Ladiesdear ladies, said Mr. Pickwick.
Oh. he says were dear, cried the oldest and ugliest teacher. Oh, the wretch!
Ladies, roared Mr. Pickwick, rendered desperate by the danger of his situation. Hear me. I am no robber. I want the lady of the house.
Oh, what a ferocious monster! screamed another teacher. He wants Miss Tomkins.
Guys, gals, girls, ladies.....dudes, men, boys......all words appropriate for talking to normal people. The question I always ask whenever reading about someone saying something that is supposedly ‘racists’, ‘sexist’ or ‘homophobic’ or....name your offense category...is “Is this person actually a ‘racist’ or did he just say something stupid?’ The answer is invariably “No!...he/she just said something stupid at that moment in time.” So, if the statement or joke or offense is truly ‘bad,’ the person who said it should be allowed to go on with his her life after an apology....no hard no foul. Most of the time, the statement doesn’t even need to be apologized for...in my opinion.
In regards to this banker....if he’s not a sexist but just uses these terms as part of who he is...then they should all talk about it and just let it go. He should not be fired. It’s how adults interact.....or used to interact.
Like DJT said to the pantywaist little girl megyn in the first debate: “Political correctness is KILLING us!”
You can machine gun your whole staff, and not get fired as fast as for saying “girls.”
I would never survive in the modern office. I am polite and respectful but not full ‘tard PC and never will be.
“Strong women” my ass.
The girls were offended for being called girls. Probably ugly dolls.
We caught the stagecoach drivers robbing us without masks, in the 1980s, three times we noticed small amounts missing from our checking account, we couldn’t feel the glory, we quit.
Some of the girls self-identified as boys and were insulted?
I am guilty.
I use the word *GUYS*...all the time ...no matter what the gender.
E.g.: **Are you guys going to town later?**
Shoot me now.
Good grief! My friends and I call each other “girls” all the time. And we are all ladies of a certain age, or as Rush used to say about his Mom: “the blue hair and Bloody Mary bunch”.
‘Its how adults interact.....or used to interact.’
not talking adults here; talking females...
I’m known among family and friends as often using the word “gals”.I guess it’s because my Dad used to use that word all the time.I’m sure my Dad never meant that word to be an insult and neither do I but it drives my sister crazy.I keep trying to convince her that I mean no disrespect and that in my dictionary “gals” is simply the female equivalent of “guys”...which nobody takes as an insult.
The bank that makes Nigerian scammers seem legit.
I refer to myself as a girl and I have grown kids, am a veteran and a lawyer. Of course, I am not a liberal feminist who hates men.
