I like Cruz. I voted for him over Trump in the primary. I do believe, however, that we’ll see a lot more of this rhetoric from many politicians. Cruz may just be gearing up for another run at the presidency.
When the caravan hordes are on the border and the immigration crap hits the fan, we’ll see who is for real and who is blowing political smoke.

That said, Cruz's statement comes immediately FOLLOWING an election, arguably the time when we are most likely to know one's true feelings and intentions.
