A man captured on surveillance video walking near the area where a North Carolina girl was kidnapped last week could hold the clue that leads authorities to the 13-year-old and her kidnapper.

Officials are urging anyone who recognizes the "person of interest" in recently released surveillance video to come forward. Hania Noelia Aguilar has been missing since Nov. 5, when she was forcefully taken by an unidentified man outside her Lumberton home. Police said the man in the video is dressed in a light-colored shirt and shoes.

“Several vehicles were seen on the video driving by. If you saw the individual on the morning of November 5 or know this man, please contact our tip line at (910) 272-5871 with any information. If you are this individual, please call the tip line to speak with investigators; your assistance may help in locating Hania,” FBI said in a statement.

Hania was standing outside her home just before 7 a.m. when she was forced into a running SUV parked on her driveway. The 13-year-old screamed as a man wearing black clothes and a yellow bandana took her and sped away in the vehicle, a witness told police.

She was waiting for other family members to drive to school at the time.

Officials located the stolen vehicle used in Hania’s kidnapping Thursday off Quincey Drive in Lumberton. Someone called 911 to report the vehicle in the woods.

Look at the ‘strut’ of the suspected individual (and the location (S.C.))..
Not sure the suspect is of a Latin decent.

Do you know if they know the identity of the suspect? I thought it was a rule with Amber Alerts, that they could not be issued without a suspect. Not clear whether they have to know who it is or not.

The search for a 13-year-old girl abducted from her Lumberton mobile home park expanded Tuesday as police and federal agents sent her picture as far away as Florida.

Investigators continue to follow all leads and consider all possibilities in the hunt for Hania Noelia Aguilar, who was reportedly forced into a stolen green 2002 Ford Expedition early Monday.

In a 911 call, one of the callers says the kidnapper took the girl into a family car that was already running. Hania was outside waiting to go to school, the caller said.

The FBI said Tuesday that it was a neighbor who called 911 at 6:54 a.m. to report the kidnapping after a relative of Hania’s ran to the neighbor to get help.

The recording released by the FBI alternates between a neighbor and an unidentified man speaking in Spanish.

A witness described the attacker as being dressed in all black and wearing a yellow bandanna on his face.

State officials issued an Amber Alert for the teen and said the Ford had the South Carolina license tag number NWS-984 and a Clemson sticker in a rear window.

The Lumberton police chief asked anyone who sees Hania or the vehicle to call his department at 910-671-3845. ...”

Apparently from Fri, Nov 9...

SUV found, hunt for missing Lumberton girl stretches into the night

Posted 9:40 a.m. Thursday (Nov 8)

Lumberton, N.C. — The green SUV that was stolen earlier this week during the kidnapping of a 13-year-old Lumberton girl was found Thursday, but the search for Hania Noelia Aguilar continued into the night.

Investigators were going door to door along Quincey Drive, talking to residents to seek clues to the girl’s whereabouts.

Aguilar, an eighth grader at Lumberton Junior High School, was abducted Monday by a man dressed in black and wearing a yellow bandana while she was standing outside her family’s home in the Rosewood Mobile Home Park located at 3525 E. Elizabethtown Road.

Lumberton Police Chief Michael McNeil and the FBI said the stolen vehicle was found Thursday shortly before 8 a.m. off Quincey Drive in Lumberton. The FBI’s Evidence Response Team was set to process the vehicle for evidence, investigators said.

“Someone called 911 and said they saw the vehicle backed up in the woods,” McNeil said during an impromptu press conference. “We immediately secured the scene. There is an incredible amount of investigative work going on to find Hania. That’s our main goal right now.”

“We’re also hoping that we can possibly obtain forensic information regarding the driver of the SUV,” FBI Agent Andy DeLarocha said.

Federal investigators asked that anyone who lives or operates a business in the area and may have a video surveillance camera system call the FBI’s tip line at 910-272-5871.

The FBI also released surveillance video showing what appears to be a man walking in the area where the girl was taken.

Investigators said the man was walking south on Lambeth Street before turning north on NC Highway 41 towards the mobile home park where the girl lived with her family. Anyone who saw the person was asked to call the tip line.

“The foot traffic at that time of the day was actually very light, and this is actually the only individual we saw out walking at that time of day in this part of the neighborhood,” DeLarocha said.

Investigators say finding the SUV is a major break, although the search for Aguilar continues.

“This is one piece that’s going to lead up, hopefully, to the rest of the puzzle,” DeLarocha said. ...”

“Hania is a teenager, calm, she is humble. A happy teenager,” Father Giovanni Romero said of the 13-year-old.

Aguilar is a member of the confirmation class at St. Andrews and her absence from Wednesday’s weekly mass was tough on the other children.

“Most of the girls her age were really affected. When we came to mass, they have two hours of class and then we come to mass, so whenever they come into mass, everybody was just talking about it,” Romero said. “It was really tough because some of the children, they just had to leave.”

Romero said the parish and community are keeping Aguilar’s family in prayer, which is now their source of strength. ...”

The Amber Alert is released as soon as the abduction of a child (young person) is reported, hoping that the issue is solved as soon as possible (more than 24 hours after a person is kidnapped, the chance of murder is multiplied exponentially)..

Hmmm. I assume he drove away after forcing her in there. How did he have keys of “the relative’s vehicle”?
