Social Security beneficiaries snared in the largest disability scam in U.S. history won a reprieve last week when the government said it will put off decisions on revoking their benefits until the new year.
The reversal by the Social Security Administration comes after the federal government finally took possession of and named receivers for thousands of case files from Eric C. Conn, the lawyer who orchestrated the disability-fraud ring. The files, which had been sitting in Conn’s law office for years, contain evidence that might help the beneficiaries prove they were entitled to benefits the government is now trying to strip from them.
It’s the latest chapter in the chaos sown by Conn, who helped thousands of people in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia win Social Security benefits, submitting what in many cases were fraudulent medical exams to win their cases.
But not everyone Conn helped was a bogus applicant and now those people will have a fighting chance to prove they were, in fact, disabled when they first applied for benefits a decade ago, said Ned Pillersdorf, a lawyer who has taken on a number of Conn clients’ cases.
“It’s better late than never they did this,” Mr. Pillersdorf told The Washington Times.
He’s pushing the court-appointed receivers, who have taken possession of the Conn client files, to process them quickly and release them so the clients will have then ready before the Social Security hearings begin again in January.
The receivers, Kentucky lawyers Cary B. Howard and Barry Stilz, wouldn’t commit to a schedule.
Mr. Howard said in an email to The Times only that they have “begun the significant task of organizing the material and are working hard already on behalf of the Court to get clients access to their property as soon as possible.”

Let’s give them THE MAGIC DISABILITY PERCENTAGE TABLE like the VA has.
30% magically becomes 4%.
40% magically becomes 3%.
And that leaves more money to pay the Democrat government employees.

It is simply amazing how many People who are on the Show are on Disability without a Wheelchair in sight.
I love how Judge Judy asks them how they pay the Rent when they tell her they aren’t working. This includes many People in the 20’s. They answer Disability and she asks “for what”?
How she is still a typical NYC Liberal is beyond me.
They are stealing from the People who actually are Disabled and need the help. You just know that 90% of them are Democrats.
I have a friend who is on SSI. Not a wheelchair in sight, but he really is disabled from working.
An accident with a shattered shin bone left him with a decided limp and a hole in his leg where the bone shows through.
Now go ahead and tell me what kind of job he can do. The potential for infection is always there and someday he is going to lose his leg and them maybe his life.
I helped him fight this all the way through,. I took 4 years to get $750/month.
I would not trade places for anything. These are not all scams...

I think I know what you meant by
this, but one doesn’t need to be
wheelchair bound to be disabled.
I was not dissing people of Disability with my comment. It was merely an observation.
I pointed out that the People on Judge Judy appear able bodied. I know people of Disability for things not obvious to the casual observer who are in need of help.
That being said, SS Disability loses untold Millions of Taxpayer money to fraud. I think it’s run by the same people who count Votes in Florida.
The government purposefully makes
SSDI difficult to obtain. It takes
some as long as five years. You’ve
got to have your ducks in a row with
medical records, and evaluations from
doctors they appoint. Most that apply
give up due to the long, drawn out
process and backlog. Pain is probably
the number one affliction most apply
under, which is difficult to gauge.
To fraud the system one needs a dubious
disability lawyer and/or doctor who
will pad the reports.
That’s the great thing about daytime TV. Where I live half the Commercials on Judge Judy are for SS Disability Lawyers.
My favorite is Dr. Phil Latour. He’s not just a Lawyer, he’s a Psychologist. A whole bunch of Disability Claims have nothing to do with Physical problems, they pay for Mental Issues.
If you have a Shrink that says you can’t cope with Life, you get a Check. Drug Addict because you are Bi Polar, get a check.
