(CNN)First lady Melania Trump, in a remarkable move carried out by her spokeswoman, publicly pushed for the ouster of deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel. "It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that (Ricardel) no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House," the first lady's communications director Stephanie Grisham said in a statement on Tuesday. The statement amounted to a stunning public rebuke by a first lady of a senior official serving in her husband's administration. It came after reports surfaced earlier Tuesday indicating Ricardel would be pushed out of her post after less than seven months on the job. Neither Ricardel not spokespeople for the National Security Council responded to CNN requests for comment.

I’m sure there is a justifiable reason. Melania don’t play.

While I certainly don’t trust CNN, here is another mystery to me. I have previously served in an appointed position. If I knew my boss was unhappy with me I would resign, in fact, I have on one occasion due to incompatible ways of achieving a common goal. But the reality is that if you are appointed and your boss isn’t happy or there are difference of opinions, you resign! You don’t hang on and go out the door kicking and screaming and creating unnecessary drama. You resign honorably and move on. How bad is it that the first lady ostensibly sends out a press release calling for you to go? Man, just go!
(Bolton is probably grumpy enough all by himself. I say this as another grumpy old guy.)
A White House official just told reporters the WSJ story is not accurate. Says Mira Ricardel has not been fired or escorted off the grounds and is at her desk and still works at the WH now.
Liz said it’s because the guy gave Melania short shrift on funds required for her Africa trip.
