The Washington Posts Josh Rogin has revealed stunning comments issued by Vice President Mike Pence during a conversation between the two aboard Air Force Two as the VP traveled for an official trip to Asia this week, where he landed in Singapore for regional summits highlighting Indo-Pacific security, trade and investment.
Pence reportedly said the White House is prepared to undertake take dramatic policy changes regarding China if Beijing does not capitulate to its demands as the trade war continues. In addition to the issue of tariffs, pressing security issues include the US demanding Chinese cessation of whats reported to be widespread intellectual property theft and refusal to recognized America freedom of navigation through and above the South China Sea.
According to Rogin, Pence went so far as to speak of an all-out Cold War during the interview, promising that:
If China wants to avoid an all-out cold war with the United States and its partners, it must fundamentally change its behavior, according to Vice President Pence. The United States, he assured me, wont back down.
Threat of initiating a cold war with China is one thing when analysts and op-ed pages have thrown the term into the public square of late; however, its quite another, constituting dramatically escalatory rhetoric, when the vice president of the United States says it. It represents a dangerous crescendo after months of down spiraling Washington-Beijing relations, and at a time when Russia is demonstrating its increasingly cooperative stance of solidarity with China.

China isnt half the problem that the Democrats are...
He knows that China is about out of tariff options and that we will win by attrition.
I do NOT agree.
I lived in China a long time ago. Just after they began opening to the outside world.
I completely agree with Pence. There has been a huge sell-out of America going on for the entire last generation.
It has been far, far too long, this has continued.
There is a Cold War brewing from within the United States of America.
Did Bezos personally paste a Gold Star on Josh’s WaPo report card immediately? Is the Pope infallible? 8-0
The left in our country are the useful idiots of the ChiComs. They have bought into the MSM propaganda, which gets its orders from Beijing and the uniparty bosses.
We even have a lot of them in here, always posting free traitor globalism.
China can't afford to lose us as a customer, and we can't yet afford to lose China as a supplier.
Hopefully we will bring back more manufacturing to our shores, then we can talk about a cold war with China.
“There has been a huge sell-out of America going on for the entire last generation.”
I’m sure the Bush Wing Republicans played their role in that sellout, but I suspect there are a lot of rich Feinsteins that played an even bigger role. I don’t blame the Chinese for taking our sellout as much as I blame our own political class for offering the sellout in the first place.
I don’t want to go to war with Russia or China.
I want to fight the war we are in here. We are losing and on the verge of losing forever.
Only NeoCons want to fight Russia or China. I do not support Pence.
