Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley brushed aside demands to hold a hearing on the ouster of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the designation of Matthew Whitaker as his acting replacement, saying Thursday that the law appears to have been followed.
Mr. Grassley also said it was ironic that Democrats are now intent on defending Mr. Sessions, who they excoriated for the nearly two years he was in office.
The Iowa Republican said hes confident President Trump followed the Vacancies Reform Act in naming Mr. Whitaker, who was not in a Senate-confirmed position but who, according to the administration, was senior enough to be named acting attorney general.

Sorry DiFi, you're not the President.
I think the Senate should investigate how DiFis husband made a killing hard covering facilities like DFACs and PXs in Iraq.
ChiFi’s got chtuzpah. I’ll give her that.
Chutzpah. Wonder what the Mandarin for that is....

Please check my tagline for a very appropriate question on this issue.
Amen to that!

I am quite surprised Rosenweasel hasn’t been fired yet.
More importantly, the Deputy AG post was never established by Congress in the first place. It was created in 1950 by an internal DOJ memorandum. As a result, it is very easy to simply push the guy into the background by changing his job description or even issuing an executive order to make the Deputy AG post vanish.
I was too, it sounded like he’d be gone a few days after Sessions resigned.
Thanks for your post, AC. I think that explains why he’s still there.
“I was too, it sounded like hed be gone a few days after Sessions resigned.”
I think Trump’s conversation with Rosenstein took care of that. I believe that Rosenstein will want to stay out of jail, especially when the FISA reporting on the dossier is released.
He will be a star witness in the convictions of the deep state. And will sacrifice himself to save the Deep State

Good Answer.
