Honestly, it is this sort of attitude that will lead to defeat in 2020. Why? Because it was THIS sort of attitude that lost us the house!
It was this attitude, the attitude that "PDJT is loved everywhere because I love him and thus we are going to gain seats!" that cost us the house. How many posts did I see that said "the polls are wrong and we are going to gain seats?" Well, election fraud aside, we still lost seats.
Why? Because we acted like we weren't behind and didn't need to get people out to vote.
THAT was the dems mistake in 2016. They acted as if they were entitled and there was NO WAY the US would EVER elect DJT and so, they stayed home. This attitude sets us up for the opposite effect in 2020. The democrats will NOT make the same mistake again. They have learned from their mistake. They PROVED here in Texas that all it takes is a good-looking, charismatic guy to GOTV. The dim base doesn't care about issues.
Had the dims ran a different candidate in 2016....someone appealing to the inner cities that would have GOTV there, we would not be talking about PDJT.
You are really placing WAY too much emphasis on debates and giving WAY too much credit to people and how they vote. This isn't 1984. The dims will get millions of 18-30-year-olds out to vote based on charisma and vitriol. It's lunacy to dismiss that and act like it is in the bag.
I can see this guy being Obama part deux. Someone who says nothing, is never challenged by the media, and the women will swoon for him, pushing him past Trump in 2020.
I hate to admit this, but Michael Medved was on to Beto months ago. He said that bettas goal was not to win in Texas. His goal was to ramp up the machine to prepare for a 2020 election opportunity. And I have to admit it made sense because most of the reports I was hearing about him was people selling T-shirts in New York and California. For no apparent reason he was a national phenomenon. He is a demonstration of what the left machine can do with a compliant population.

Nobody cares about debates. Most voters don't even watch them.
EXACTLY RIGHT. He comes with a TON of cash...and charisma. He was the model in Texas of what they WILL do in 2020. The days of a Hillary or even a Biden in 2020...or any other time...are over. The dims learned from their mistakes. They know the ONLY reason they lost PA, MI, WI and FL is because they didn't have a candidate that appealed to their cities and young.
They will never, EVER go away from the Obama mold again. National elections are first and foremost about who can GOTV of their base. As the US becomes more polarized, this becomes more and more important. In 2016, we won that battle. They lost because their candidate did not appeal to minorities and the young. Well, guess what-they know that. So, expect a tag team in 2020.
One of his big advantages in Texas was the ‘illegal to legal’ vote. He won’t have that advantage if he runs nationally. Well, not yet.
