Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said Sunday he expects special counsel Robert Mueller's final report will be politically devastating for President Trump, but said he does not believe it will criminally implicate the president.
"I think the report is going to be devastating to the president. And I know that the president’s team is already working on a response to the report," Dershowitz said on ABC's "This Week."
"The critical questions are largely political," he added. "When I say devastating, I mean it's going to paint a picture that's going to be politically very devastating."
Dershowitz argued that Mueller is unlikely to accuse Trump of crime, but will instead lay out the facts of the case. He suggested that the president is more legally vulnerable in matters related to his business.
Dershowitz, who regularly appears on cable television and defends the president, said it remains to be seen whether acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker will make the special counsel's final report public. If he does, it will likely be released in tandem with a defense from the president's legal team, Dershowitz said.
Trump has repeatedly decried the Mueller investigation as a "witch hunt," and claimed that the special counsel and his team have conflicts of interest. He has not elaborated on the latter claim.
The president's legal team last week submitted written answers to some questions from Mueller, but Trump has indicated he is unlikely to sit for an in-person interview with the special counsel.
Mueller's investigation has thus far yielded four guilty pleas from former Trump associates, and he has obtained indictments against more than 20 Russian nationals for their alleged efforts to influence the 2016 election.
The Mueller 'investigation' is all about creating rumors and innuendos that will hound Trump during his presidency and beyond.
Even if it ended right now Democrats would still point to Carter Page, Papadopleous, and Manafort as proof Trump is 'guilty of collusion'.
You don't need proof when you have rumors and innuendos.

I think the implication is that there were promises made to Russians in exchange for supporting Trump’s failures in his many business ventures.
It’s going to be devastating for the Dems - for two years they are screaming about fake collusion with Russians, and Mueller report will be nothing more than just another manufactured character assassination a la the Steele dossier.

What Mueller has to do, and what EVERY Trump hater has failed to do, is to spell out specifically just how the Russians could affect the election, just what it was that Putin could deliver that would affect the election, even if he wanted to. Or why Putin would favor a president that wanted to increase American power in all forms.
