In 2015, a high-quality pre-k program was created and funded $118 million by the legislature, with the support of Governor Greg Abbott. In 2017, lawmakers voted not the fund it again, although schools still had to meet the program requirements, even without the money. On the eve of the 2019 legislature, the SBOE recommendation would not only restore the funding, but expand pre-k from half-days to full days.

The zinger is at the 2:30 mark of the video - 40% English language learners. Yee haw, welcome illegals with free full day daycare!

Frankly, I thought all public schools in TX had Pre-K for the past many decades. Now, it appears taxpayers are going to get to pay for every daycare that portrays itself as a Pre-K.

Several studies show that any “head start” from this program is completely lost by the third grade. It’s nothing but free babysitting for poor parents and wildly popular with teachers unions (more fees) and politicians (look at how compassionate I am).

It is essential to acquire complete control of all children even before they are acquired by K-12...

Parents are a dangerous influence, pre-K, on the governments children and the interaction with them must be minimized or eliminated in order to gain the full indoctrination experience of K-12...

State funded daycare that is yet to be shown is of any benefit to kids.

A full year of taxpayer funded all day preschool?

Very progressive.

If a summer program is recommended by the school. The parents will refuse to pay for it. For the student’s academic best interest this program needs to be offered year round.

The girls who have babies can put them in taxpayer funded daycare until they graduate from High School. I worked with them for a short while and was disgusted with it. The girls wouldn’t pick up their kids when school was out but wait until 6 pm when the placed closed. Free babysitting from birth onward.

Our kids knew how to read and do math long before Kindergarten. The K teacher was angry over that.

In 3rd grade, daughter had a lot of smart kids in her class. Or rather there were a lot of active parents. They had a great teacher who let them finish their reading textbook early in the year and then let them read at their own levels up to 8th grade. The (lesbian) principal got angry over that and fired the teacher. Most of that class went on to graduate HS with honors.

Upside down world.

As a general rule, The State must feed until it is engorged. And then it must eat more.

More BS from the liberals in Austin! Pre-K is nothing but daycare for toddlers.
