Before the storm - remember this:

George Bush was the last veteran of World War II to serve as president, he was a consummate public servant and a statesman who helped guide the nation and the world out of a four-decade Cold War that had carried the threat of nuclear annihilation.

Prayers for the Bush family.

I’m sorry that he died but being 94 years old it was time. He was starting to look bad. Too much medication. Better to go.

History should be kinder to him as the media won’t be.

Very fair and interesting biographic summary of his life:

He is the one who let many Muslim students in plus all the Kuwaiti types who bought gas station/convenience stores. Don’t forget he did NAFTA. Ross Perot would have beat the boy whose wife bought him everything.

I think any chance of Bush winning a second term went out the door once Lee Atwater passed away in 1991.

The guy who gave us Bil Clinton and 30 years of extreme corruption in government that is proving to be our #1 problem today and something we may never recover from. Just imagine where we would be right now had Hillary won the election.

When they announced it on the radio, the newsreader opened “George H. W. Bush is dead.” Not “...has died.”

To me, the difference is like hearing that a fugitives was finally brought down versus a retired public figure has passed on. This is nothing new coming from the MSM in the last few decades.

I honestly don’t remember how they initially announced the deaths of John McCain nor of his buddy Ted Kennedy, but I’m willing to bet that it went something like “Senator ... has finally lost their long battle with cancer...”

Just grousing about the usual newspeak. That is all.

The media will gush so NOW, as they did when John McCain died. Even if they could find little to be gracious about while 41 was alive.

That little story abut 41 giving a young woman a pinch a few months ago, might be dragged out, if the #MeToo movement behaves as expected.

While alive, the MSM despised Bush, but they’ll heap praise on him in death to contrast him with their current hatred of Trump.

I think any chance of Bush winning a second term went out the door once Lee Atwater passed away in 1991.

The second term went out the door when he broke his tax pledge. The entire party opposed this, including all the good soldiers who sucked it up and tried to defend the decision publicly. Bush was virtually the only man in the GOP who believed the Democrats would honor their half of the deal. Sheer folly, but Bush flattered himself that he had risen above partisanship.

President Trump has to attend the funeral I assume. Given how far the Bush name has fallen in the minds of Freepers I suppose a simple RIP is all I will say.

I'm not going to say I agreed with him, but in 1990, we (an ex girlfriend, me and her kids) were at a waterfront restaurant in Kennebunkport (we were boating in my 28 foot 'Cigarette style' boat) when we saw secret agents and Bush 41 and Barbara coming to the dock. They stopped and talked to customers.

RIP and prayers to the Bush family.
