Oh interesting.

Maybe this is why we just agreed to 3 more months with China?

No more one way trade deals that is free for everyone but America!

“Liberal heads are already exploding on Twitter.”

Well, at least it isn’t one of their important body parts.

'The US Mexico & Canada Trade Deal Replaces NAFTA' "The new Trade Agreement between Mexico and Canada (USMCA) and the United States over which Trump has been so criticized for was obviously necessary from a number of perspectives. The new USMCA is drafted as a new stand-alone trade agreement, rather than amendments to NAFTA. It includes transition provisions dealing with NAFTA, some modifications to those provisions taken from NAFTA, and a dozen new chapters. Whereas NAFTA included 22 chapters, the new agreement has 34. Beyond the criticism, the new chapters include those on labor, the environment, digital trade, and macroeconomic policy. The USMCA also includes annexes covering alcohol and proprietary food formulas as well as bilateral side letters on distinctive products, auto safety standards, biologics, cheese names, wine, water, research and development expenditures, and Section 232. There were different safety standards everyone was using and then NAFTA did not include anything to do with the INTERNET and the new digital era." Martin Armstrong

It’s nice having a businessman in office. Already having a signed “deal” by Company Z, to go against the existing agreement with Company X. And even better when X and Z are the same people!

AND - this keep’s congress’s hands tied to the signed agreement! I don’t have time now - but I imagine that treaties have to be limited to what the president can legally do. For example, it can’t have in there “We will tax corn exports more so as to compete more fairly with Mexican corn.”

It says clearly in the first sentence that it will be terminated in six months after which there will be the new agreement or nothing. Six months. Perhaps the headline news revising.

Congress can change anything it wants to. Remember the fast track trade deals. Congress voted on fast track, so the rules were nothing can be changed in that one trade deal. Each one is different. But I don't see any troubles with this deal. The democrats like it because it is very pro union, so there will be gripes about this or that, but it will be approved.

I don't think this is considered a treaty, but the Senate has changed treaties all the time. They will vote on side provisions, etc.

Schumer will lead the pack on this.

He was always against NAFTA.

Is this deal perfect?? Probably not but 100 times better than NAFTA.

And no one...but no one ever thought we'd get anything for the dairy folks from Canada.

Liberal heads are already exploding on Twitter.

Ironic. The left opposed these trade deals, saying they would hurt the American workers by sending their jobs out of the country. Now they're angry free traitors because the President who is doing something about them happens to be President Trump.

For awhile, I kept spreadsheets of three depressing and rather macabre things:

1) beheadings around the world
2) the number of companies closing/leaving the US
3) dead bankers.

I quit counting 1 @ 40, 2 @ 135,000 and 3 @ 36.

#2 is relevant to this thread. However, once that (#3) international banker in London pulled an Anna Karenina, I knew the world was about to go into a dark place at almost full speed. Now, the truly bad guys are ‘cleaning’ - as in covering their tracks; many of those sit in power in the US.

I believe you’re right. Read that it gets an up and down vote with no changes.
