Trump last week floated cutting GM's subsidies for electric vehicles and raising auto tariffs to punish the company if it cuts jobs in the U.S.

The Volt is one of the six cars being eliminated so I would imagine that the subsidies, if there are any to begin with, would go away with the Volt itself.

...they didn’t cancel the Bolt. My guess is that it offsets emission regulations (against big trucks). The federal subsidy was a huge part of making the vehicle viable for consumers. This would hit them hard.

I’m not sure it’ll hit Tesla quite as hard - they’re not selling any configured for less than $50,000 and there’s plenty that would pay more, so I’d doubt it’ll impact them much.
