GOPe controls both houses and the presidency. They can’t pass even minimal legislation. The Democrats cheat their way into control of one house and they suddenly rule the world? It’s high time we hold our Senate responsible for doing their job in the face of an insurrection or medias, masturbatory, flotsam.

“The Act also forbade the U.S. Government agency from keeping a registry directly linking non-National Firearms Act firearms to their owners, the specific language of this law (Federal Law 18 U.S.C. 926 (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/926)) being:

‘No such rule or regulation prescribed [by the Attorney General] after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or disposition be established. Nothing in this section expands or restricts the Secretary’s authority to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.’

“Nevertheless, the ATF’s National Tracing Center (NTC) contains hundreds of millions of firearm tracing and registration records, and consists of several databases:

“1. Multiple Sale Reports. Over 460,000 (2003) Multiple Sales reports (ATF F 3310.4 - a registration record with specific firearms and owner name and address - increasing by about 140,000 per year). Reported as 4.2 million records in 2010.[16]

“2. Suspect Guns. All guns suspected of being used for criminal purposes but not recovered by law enforcement. This database includes (ATF’s own examples[citation needed]), individuals purchasing large quantities of firearms, and dealers with improper record keeping. May include guns observed by law enforcement in an estate, or at a gun show, or elsewhere.[citation needed] Reported as 34,807 in 2010.[16]

“3. Traced Guns. Over 4 million detail records from all traces since inception.[16] This is a registration record which includes the personal information of the first retail purchaser, along with the identity of the selling dealer.

4. Out of Business Records. Data is manually collected from paper out of business records (or input from computer records) and entered into the trace system by ATF. These are registration records which include name and address, make, model, serial and caliber of the firearm(s), as well as data from the 4473 form - in digital or image format. In March, 2010, ATF reported receiving several hundred million records since 1968...”

“sys·tem

“1.a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.

Just a few nosy leftist individuals doing their thing is not a system.

“Since there is no government registration of firearms such a law would be impossible to enforce”

and then there is Marbury v. Madison which seems pretty clear.

“Am I a bad person because I just follow politics for laughs now? :(”

Not at all. If I owned C-Span I might even reclassify as a Comedy/Humor channel to take advantage of the rich material now available.

What better way to start the morning than a show called “Harry Reid’s Workout”. Or “Just Biden Time” with Ole Joe.

Then we have Nancy, Maxine, Chuckie and the bright newcomer to the comedy scene who can’t afford an apartment yet, Ocasio-nally Coherent.

All gun laws are headed to the scrap heap.

Let them show what they are.

A fellow from the Sons of Liberty asked for and got mine.

Food for thought, true, but I get the impression that this is anything but the seamless digitized database that Lyndon Johnson sought back in 1968; in fact he was raging as he signed GCA ‘68 that the new law failed to inaugurate a national gun registry and federal licensing of owners.

The gungrabbers will never stop, this we know. But eight years of inaction on gun control by Obama, and forty years of frustration for Dianne Feinstein, don’t make repeal of the 2nd Amendment very likely.

Red Flag laws are a different story. Confiscation one citizen at a time.

They should always think about what’s on the other end of the fuse before lighting it.

Unless the Guns in question are “registered” and later involved in a Crime, how would the Government know what transactions two private Citizens are involved in?

When I was eight years old my Father gave me a .22 Bolt Action Rifle and a .410 Single Shot Shotgun. Are they going to go arrest his Ashes now?

When there is a background check the gun serial number is listed. That is the information they really want. They don’t need that.

I would add an amendment that the serial number isn’t identified to help kill the bill and put notice they really want a record of each gun for confiscation.

Anyone who votes for such a thing should be immediately removed from office under the 14th amendment section 3

Democrat Congressman can vote for such a thing with complete confidence that they will remain in office after the next election.

They may be more concerned with the possibility of someone invoking "rule .308" then any provision of the Constitution.

I expect them to push hard for confiscation of firearms and ammunition in the next term of Congress.

Another Democrat nobody trying to get his 15 seconds of fame in the mainstream media.

All he’s going to get is a nomination to be put into the ‘National Hall of Shameless Politicians’. And I will second it.

I like it. Let them go full retard and get them on record. I hope they go all the way calling for gun registration, assault weapons ban. Makes great sound bites.

This is one way to motivate our base. Whenever Obama talked about gun regulation, gun sales went way up. People went to gun shows and became more motivated and ready to defend their 2nd amendment rights and other civil rights.

You know they’ll try after the next big shooting. But we’ve been through the drill.

This bill may very well die in committee.

The Senate will not pass it at any rate.

In the unlikely event the Senate passed such a law, President Trump would veto it.

The media wants to separate President Trump from his base. Signing such a bill would be a major stride towards doing just that.

The president is too smart to fall into the RATS trap.

The bill can’t get past the Senate or President Trump

Simon old boy, I think you're going to have to trot this statement out a bit over the next two years.
