Americans who went to China were by the vast majority, young, individualist and pioneers looking for opportunity and to earn money. I know many. They were not “selling secrets,” they were not helping Communists. Many worked to establish American offices selling US products there.
Most learned that even with a supposedly reforming China, the Communist Party and its vast control network are never more than 1-2 steps away.
The idea they were somehow traitors is simplistic and ridiculous.

Maybe if you stuck to what I wrote you wouldn’t be trying to claim that I said that.
I don’t think the poster considered them traitors, IMHO. I DO think that many larger American companies bailed out of the U.S. instead of fighting to make our policies more business and employee friendly.
