It’s not illegals per se he wants - it’s low labor rates. If importing 10m legal aliens a year helps accomplish that, he’d support it. Assuming all other things remain constant, a surge in labor supply means a drop in labor rates. As a farmer who can’t exactly build a plant in Mexico to harvest and process his farm’s output, open borders is what he wants, because that’s how he keeps his costs low.
