OPINION: Pearl Harbor Day One For Which Franklin Delano Roosevelt Shoulders Infamy
dailycaller.com ^ | 12/7/2018 | Daniel Oliver

On Dec. 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan bombed the U.S. Pacific Fleet which was stationed in Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. In addressing Congress the next day, President Roosevelt called it “a date which will live in infamy.”

But Roosevelt’s reputation should live in infamy too. The line that Roosevelt enthusiasts and left-wing historians have peddled for so many years is that the attack was a complete surprise.

Here’s a sample from The American Pageant, a typical left-wing American history textbook widely used in American high schools:

Officials in Washington, having “cracked” the top-secret code of the Japanese, knew that Tokyo’s decision was for war … Roosevelt, misled by Japanese ship movements in the Far East, evidently expected the blow to fall on British Malaya or on the Philippines. No one in high authority in Washington seems to have believed that the Japanese were either strong enough or foolhardy enough to strike Hawaii.

That’s the left’s version, and it’s in line with the rest of the “fake history” they want American high school students to learn. The Education and Research Institute (ERI — of which I am chairman) has written a critique of The American Pageant, which tells a more accurate story about Pearl Harbor and scores of other events in American history.

In reading about that there were four possibilities of where the attack would come and Pearl was just one of the four.

The Soviets DID spot the IJN during their Hawaii approach and they did radio that discovery back to Moscow.

The Soviets didn’t warn the US, but no one knows why.

I think it really was a surprise.

We suspected they might pull something like this but not exactly when.

His kicking the Constitution to the curb for a fistful of programs and power grabs should be enough for him being in the Presidential hall of shame.

FDR did far more damage to the US than the Japanese it’s not even close.

One in three Americans believe America was too harsh with Japan by dropping A-Bombs to end the will of Japan to fight. There is always the one-third ready to condemn America and Americans first

November 27, day after Japanese fleet left for Pearl Harbor, message went out from War Department

Operative phrases = “Consider This message a war warning.
Execute appropriate defensive measures”

Kimmel and Short did neither …….

Can you cite a source for that? Not challenging you, just wondering where you may have heard that.

I was visiting my parents at their nursing facility yesterday, and as a young nurse came by my father commented to her that it was the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Her reaction: “What’s Pearl Harbor?”

I think Roosevelt wanted in the war, and needed something to bring Americans into supporting our entry as well. He may have stupidly thought that Japan attacking Pearl Harbor was not a reality, but I have my doubts. What I also believe, is that he thought the attack would come off differently than it did and would not be as devastating as it was.

That being said, I believe it was imperative for the US to enter the war. I can't imagine if Germany, Japan, & Italy had won, what the world would have looked like afterwards.

Stalin had lots of supporters in the FDR administration. It was important to get into the war to help Stalin.

After the Jap mini-sub was sunk, a call to battle stations might have been appropriate.

The Soviets didn’t warn the US, but no one knows why.

Stalin clearly wanted the U.S. in the war.

Stalin did not trust anyone. He was given timely intelligence, several times during the war, that he could have used to great advantage. He was not told how it had been obtained, or that the Brits, with the help of the Poles, had cracked the German Army codes. He ignored them all.

With the broken code, his efforts to instigate war for years (theres a reason the Grier was used), and the movements/actions of that day, there is no way FDR didn’t know and want this event to take place.

They wanted us in the war, and they knew a surprise attack would make that more likely than if we sent out flights from our bases to watch them.

They figured Hitler would declare war on us, and because Germany's spymaster in Japan was a double agent working for the Soviets, they knew what Hitler was unaware of a secret protocol between the Russians and the Japs that the Russkies would not attack Japan.

That was what was behind Hitler's "inexplicable" decision to declare war on us: he thought the Japs would open an Eastern front on the Soviet Union.

Wasn’t Teddy Roosevelt’s granddaughter put in charge of Red Cross and stationed in Los Angeles the day before - Dec.6th? I’m pretty sure that is on the record and she let’s slip she found it all too coincidental and believed there was foreknowledge.
