VERY depressing. Virginia, Colorado, now apparently Nevada... All former Red, then Purple states that have recently gone to The Dark Side.

I’m an immigrant from Chicagoland to Atlanta. The voter shift here is Georgia is the immigration of us Rust Belt city refugees to the Red States. It is not immigrants. Most of the immigrants from Rust Belt cities are independents. They are workers, not the welfare type. They (we) come to Red states because that is where the jobs are.

The Republican denial of our existence drives many of the independents to the Democrats. The Democrats welcome them. The Republicans don’t recognize the we exist. We don’t like being ingnored.... dissed.

That is the real story. The immigrant voting story is mostly fantasy. Even naturalized Hispanic citizens and anchor babies have a very los turnout percentage.

Northern VA is very different from Atlanta. Northern VA is filled with people who by ideology, employment and world view want a big central government, both big Pentagon and big everything else. Most natives and immigrants to Red states work in the private sector and have no vested interest in a big central government. Nor do immigrants have any vested interest in a big central government. But they do appreciate a little friendliness.

If what you say is true, then why are the ballots in Gwinnett bilingual?

“Gwinnett is the only county in Georgia that the Census Bureau has said must provide bilingual ballots and other elections materials under Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act. About 20 percent of people who live in Gwinnett are Hispanic, according to Census estimates.”

I had given some thought to moving south once I fully retire. More and more I’m thinking about moving to arizona and hanging out with gun jesus from “forgotten weapons”.

Biligual ballots are primarily a virtue signal movement of white liberals.... and now Black liberals. Hispanic liberals (and opportunists) find it convenient to get the money of the White and Black liberals to be part of the virtue signaling.

Most Hispanic voters are non-ideological, just like most voters of any background. They are neither pushing or opposing bilingual ballots.
