Citing audience input, CBC has reversed its decision to remove the holiday track Baby, It's Cold Outside from seasonal playlists.
"Last week, we decided to press pause to consider the different points of view on playing Baby, It's Cold Outside. Because we value our audience input, which was overwhelmingly to include the song, we have put it back on the two playlists where it had been removed," Chuck Thompson, CBC's head of public affairs, said in a statement Tuesday.
"Appreciating not everyone interprets lyrics the same way, listeners may wish to skip the song as we understand not everyone will agree with this decision."
In the last few years, the winter-season duet penned in 1944 has come under increased scrutiny for what some consider to be inappropriate lyrics.
In late November, a Cleveland radio station announced it had stopped playingBaby, It's Cold Outside in response to listeners who took issue with the the call-and-response tune, in which one singer attempts to cajole the other to stick around and not leave...

They have rap tunes that would make your mothers ears bleed playing on their playlist, but they removed the standard "Baby it's Cold Outside" because a couple of lunatics thought it was offensive.

That’s a fact... And it seems to be getting colder every year... This year winter started in October. That’s probably the real reason they wanted to ban it. It is really ridiculous that Tinder exists for people to hook up with strangers, yet a 1950s song is banned, that is about innocent flirtation and a woman wishing to appear virtuous even after stopping by a gentleman’s home.
