It’s very simple. Because CO2 is denser than air it transfers heat more readily. IOW, when the sun isn’t shining CO2 radiates heat out of the atmosphere better than air.

Some are saying some of these are are old articles they are correct but I doubt that the information on what CO2 plays in the atmosphere changed in 4 years. Man may work in a short time period but the Geo works in a larger time period.
