The change means California will be joining other states in what's called "Super Tuesday," when several states vote simultaneously in primary elections.

California’s leadership hasn’t come up with anything good in decades.

All the troubles the state faces, this kind of ‘stuff’ is what they focus on.

It will not affect the outcome. The candidates will all be Democratic due to the jungle primary system.

They are trying to influence the election...Just what you’d expect from Russia.

I’m sure there’s some advantageous reason for Democrats by doing this. We need to figure out Moonbeams angle.

I think they are trying to get Kamala Harris momentum with a big win in the early going.

Super Tuesday?
Must be for all the super-delegates.
Whom ever is the anointed one will have the nomination sewn up by March.
That leaves a lot more money for Preezy campaigning.

Can't say I disagree with this one. Having the primary in June is stupid as the nomination has already been decided by then.

I've always advocated for three sets of primaries (50 primaries in each state) all on the same day. Hear me out...

So the first set of primaries the last Tuesday in January. This will separate the pretenders from the serious candidates.

Another set of primary the last Tuesday of March. This will narrow the field to maybe 2-3 candidate from each party.

Then one final set of primaries the last Tuesday in May that will determine the nominee.

Look for CA to try and influence GOP candidate by playing games with voter registration.
They REALLY wanted Jeb in 2016 as my dead mom could have beaten him.

This means 11% of REPUBLICAN delegates will be selected in March too.

11% of 50% +1.

There are few who can afford to compete in this largest of media markets and enormous state.

It completely changes the dynamics of party nominations.

Completely.

CA has the most electoral votes. Their primary was so late in the process that it didn’t affect the outcome. Now with the new date, CA will be at the forefront.

Hmm... I seem to remember that the Republican party requires Super Tuesday primary states to divide delegates proportionately. Also, I think South Carolina and Florida lost half their delegates to the convention when they moved their primaries up, which means that California could lose a lot of clout in the final delegate counts.

This will likely give an advantage to the most Left-Wing candidates, as opposed to establishment Democrats. California has always been meaningless in Presidential primaries, because each party’s candidate has been established by then. Now, that Leftist cesspool will have great influence in picking the Democrats’ nominee. Ironically, California’s action will help President Trump get reelected; this is not a Far Left country.
