SELMA, Ala. (CNN) - Thousands of pounds of sausage products may contain metal bits in them. Pixabay / MGN

The U-S-D-A announced yesterday that R-L Zeigler Company has recalled nearly 12,000 pounds of its products.

The recalled items include the 24-oz plastic packages of "Zeigler a Tradition of Great Taste Red Hots" and its "Extra Hot Zeigler a Tradition of Great Taste Red Hots" version.

No word on how the metal pieces could have made it into the sausages and there are no reports of side effects to the products.

Good word play.
Maybe that’s what “Charlie” Dickens really meant to write.

12,00 pounds is not even half of a truck load.

Sounds like a grinder or extruder failed.

I am not a fan of Zidgler, Bryans is better quality.

I do think Bear Bryant used to own part of Ziegler.

Everyday fillings fall out, things go wrong and you bite the curb, pens get chewed up...
I never hear of a recall for the people that swallowed the missing parts?

Everyday illegals do grievous harm to US CITIZENS.
No recalls there?

“No word on how the metal pieces could have made it into the sausages.”

Years ago when I was sales mgr. for a Pork packing plant we used to run into broken needles in the carcasses from the farmers having given vaccinations, antibiotic etc.

The metal detectors would usually pick them up but I’m sure some got through. Then, when the cuts were ground for Sausage, Brats whatever, voila, metal fragments.

I saw that yesterday. At first glance I thought it said “Zweigle’s”, because that’s the brand I buy when I can get to Rochester and Syracuse, NY to pick them up. They are a Rochester, NY company, and produce natural casing Red and White (pork) hot dogs that pop-open on the grill. I get the white ones for my oldest son as he said they are the closest thing to the Bratwurst he gets when he goes to Berlin. I have to drive to Syracuse to get those. I like their Texas Brand skinless red hot dogs, but can only get them in the Rochester area, so I don’t get to have them very often.
