Real World War-Why we are nowhere near winning it.
Frontpagemagazine ^ | January 3, 2019 | Michael Ledeen

Posted on 01/03/2019 4:18:44 AM PST by SJackson

“The war is on,” General Mike Flynn wrote three years ago.  And he went on to describe it in our best-selling book The Field of Fight.

We face a working coalition that extends from North Korea and China to Russia, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Bolivia, Venezuela and Nicaragua.  We are under attack, not only from nation-states directly, but also from al Qaeda, Hezbollah, ISIS, and countless other terror groups.

It’s a world war, and the enemy alliance is composed of both radical Islamist groups and nations—above all, Iran and its proxies--and radical secular tyrannies, like Putin’s.  While we have defeated them every time we fought them on an actual battlefield, today we are nowhere near winning the real world war.  Our enemies are advancing in the Middle East and North Africa, and flooding our hemisphere with terrorists, even in our own homeland.

We have to win this global conflict, and there are several ways to do it.  Above all, we must launch a vigorous political campaign against their anti-democratic ideologies.  Far too many American intellectuals and politicians say we lack “standing” for such a campaign.  They are wrong, as they were similarly wrong during the Cold War.  Reagan was repeatedly criticized for pointing out the failure of Soviet Communism, but we now know from the dissidents that overthrew it that Reagan’s words were important and inspirational.

Ours is the most durable and most successful revolution in the modern era, and we should say so.

Our enemies, typically, are failed or failing states (Iran, Turkey) or proxies thereof.  Political warfare can be very effective, as the case of the Soviet Empire clearly demonstrates.

Yes, I’m talking about promoting regime change.  It’s not easy, not popular, and it’s altogether likely to fail, whether it comes about nonviolently or as the result of armed action.  Most of the time, revolutions fail (ours is a rare exception), from the French in the 18th century to the Egyptian “spring” that brought the Muslim Brotherhood to power.  Failed revolutions more often than not lead to a restoration of the original tyranny, or (think Russia) something even worse.  We don’t want that.

Nonetheless, our enemies are hell-bent on our defeat and domination, and they mean to impose their malevolent world-view on us.  We should take the war to them—the whole enemy alliance—and the most effective way to do that is to threaten the survival of our enemies’ regimes and the leaders of the radical Islamist groups and movements.

As General Flynn said:

We can’t win this war by treating Radical Islamic terrorism as a handful of crazies…any more than we can win the global war solely with military forces.  The political and theological underpinnings of their immoral actions have to be demolished…

Some foreign leaders recognize this, notably Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who has called upon his country’s Muslim leaders to carry out a revolution of Islamic doctrine.  True, Sisi is not a liberal democrat, but he is fighting against the radical Islamists of the Muslim Brotherhood, who are both tyrannical and enemies of the United States.

Our political campaign against the enemy alliance is urgently needed.  Thus far, we don’t have one.  It’s long past time we took this world war into enemy headquarters.  The best place to start is Iran, where an open rebellion against the regime has been raging for a year, and seemingly grows by the day.  We should be openly and vigorously supporting those millions of anti-regime demonstrators.  If we could bring down the Soviet Empire by supporting the relatively small number of dissidents, the Islamic Republic, where a majority of Iranians detest the regime, should be significantly easier.

As for ISIS and al Qaeda, we should use both political and military means.  ISIS has lost most of its “caliphate,” and our leaders should reiterate this theme on a daily basis, via our radio and television broadcasts to their would-be followers, at the same time we decimate their forces.

Let’s close with General Flynn:

We are fighting an enemy that wants to win, legitimately believes it is winning, and is bringing the war to our homeland.  We need a winning strategy.

Faster, please

And the most disturbing and dangerous is the enemy we have within also working with the outsiders to destroy us as a nation.

Once they are dispatched the rest of the world will pucker their asses.

The US can’t lose if there are no internal enemies.

The war won’t be won as long as we are too ‘moral’ to fight it. Terrorism isn’t a country or a band of miscreants. Terrorism is an ideology. How do you defeat an idea?

The closest tactic I can think of is to ask, “What would the NKVD do?” The way to defeat an idea is to make the punishment for acting on it so swift, so devastating, so inevitable that the notion of implementing the idea dies in the mind before it can be acted on.

The Soviets were not squeamish. They would kill not only the terrorist but everyone in his family, everyone in his ‘village,’ everyone he knows. Mercilessly, openly, and unrelenting. That’s how I’d fight an ideology.

But by the time Americans become so bloody minded, the war will most likely be in the final stages of being lost.

Amen

That also applies to domestic politics where conservatives refuse to fight becuse “that’s not what we do”.

it’s easier to sit home than get off your butt and fight

Mike Flynn - the Turkish spy?

I don’t know I want to read anything that tries to start with a good faith quote from a traitor.

Missed the ball since the kickoff: focusing on Middle East/Islamic terrorism is fascinating but nowhere near our most dangerous enemy.

China is using the massive amount of money they are getting from us to massively improve and increase military capabilities, has established naval and airbases all over the world, particularly Africa, the Indian Ocean, and even South America (who do you think operates the Panama Canal these days?) and are gearing up for military confrontation as we speak.

Focus, people.

This guy Ledeen is one of the biggest "neo-con" jerks around. He has no idea what "victory" means. He just lists a bunch of countries around the world where he wants someone else's kids to go fight.

This dope lives in the U.S. -- and he has the nerve to call PUTIN a radically secular tyrant?

We are the biggest purveyor of radical secularism in the world today.

The Muslim Brotherhood, Iran and Russia have supporters inside our government who will oppose any actions against them.

We face a cabal of global socialists and islamists.

Actually, no. We aren’t near world dominion and aren’t about to be—short of becoming totalitarian like China.

Sending our young men and women to endless war because some regimes somewhere on the planet harbor wishes to harm us is insanity.

There is in fact a world war happening, and I believe Flynn knows what it is, but didn’t write it because of the implications of a conspiracy theory.

There are three factions in the world. The communists, the muzzies and the Freedom Caucus. Our faction is the American Right/Israel and as we are starting to see, some eastern European countries and countries in South America. I didn’t include countries like Australia due to the fact they are not critical to the war as of yet.

My theory goes like this. There are only two things right now that can destroy America. The first is the overturning by SCOTUS of the second amendment. That opens the door to true government tyranny. The second is the destruction of Israel.

The real war isn’t the destruction of America and the freedom that comes with it. The real war is the final battle between the communists and the muzzies for world domination. Two ideologies that preach totalitarianism will go at it and there won’t be a damn thing we can do about it.

Our survival is predicated on only one thing. The annihilation of the American left, because the next time they have full power, they will destroy the American right. Take the house, senate, white house and then through fiat, expand SCOTUS to 13, adding 4 left wing judges. At that point it is over for us.

George Soros... Don't forget Soros. I believe he happens to be one of the biggest enemies that the western world has. His money corrupts everything it touches, including our own politicians...

The progressives and the "Open Society Foundations" should be listed as terrorist organizations...

When I first read the title, I’m thinking what the heck is he talking about. Then as I read the article, I understood. Yes, it is a war, and it’s a war similar to the cold war that he has identified. That is, first and foremost it’s a clash of civilizations/ideas. With the Cold war it was Communism/Socialism vs. Western style liberal democracy. Now it’s that same Western style liberal democracy vs. Islamo Fascism which is simply another form of socialism.

In a war of ideas you have to educate and win the hearts and minds. During the cold war we had the Voice of America and political leaders like Kennedy (the good one) and Reagan who called out the Soviet masters. They weren’t afraid to identify their enemy. That is the first step, we can’t be afraid to identify our enemy. Our enemy is Islamo Fascism. I define it as a means of government control of the people by use of a religious philosophy. Socialism where instead of the state being the god, Allah and his prophet Mohammed is the god.

And China is working overtime, I imagine, to fund 20 Republican Senators who will vote to remove President Trump from office when the time comes.

The danger is from those who take the Koran literally, and believe and act upon it.

you’re thinking of the old ways the Communists did things. You DON’T want to create martyrs. You DON’T want symbols.

You are correct about ideological warfare but it has to be more subtle. Like the libs do. If you aren’t “right thinking” then you don’t get into the university, you don’t get into the graduate school, you don’t get the job promotion, you don’t get the JOB at all...and on and on.. you don’t get jobs in entertainment, board of directors or anywhere.

You don’t kill them, you destroy their ability to survive. Let nature take it’s course. People will be conditioned to “think the right way” in order to eat. Those that are seriously opposing can be killed accidentally, imprisoned with planted images on their computers, falsifying tax returns, loan applications and the 1000’s of other crimes that are on the books. Simple things like hiring a maid, getting an orphan outside of legal manners, etc..... I can’t remember who said this but it goes something like “give me a man and I’ll convict him of a crime”.

They no longer hide their intentions or perversions. That’s why we have homosexuals in AT&T, Disney, Coke commercials and it’s actually considered an advantage to be gay. Good Morning America now parades a pre-teen boy as a symbol of expression because he dresses as a woman and prances about the stage.

So, yeah...we’re at war. It’s ideological. Save books, save anything that shows a conservative Christian American capitalist ideas in good light. They are being “not published” and not being taught.

As they say, “ you may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.”
