Turkey seeks 'major' US military assistance in Syria: WSJ
Al Jazeera ^ | 01/05/2018

The substantial request for military support included air raids, logistics and transportation so Turkish forces could finish off the remaining fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) in Syria, senior US officials were quoted as saying by the WSJ on Friday.

"The Turkish requests are so extensive that, if fully met, the American military might be deepening its involvement in Syria instead of reducing it," the newspaper reported.

The unidentified American officials told the Journal there was little chance Washington would agree to Ankara's requests in full.

US President Donald Trump announced on December 19 his plans to withdraw US troops deployed in northern Syria following a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkey and the US appeared to agree to coordinate the troops' withdrawal from the area to avoid a power vacuum that could attract a number of parties interested in filling it.

No. Absolutely not. Enough warring in the Middle East and more of our young people being maimed and killed. We’ve no stake in Syria and screw the Turks. By far probably the worst race of people God ever put on the Earth. They hate us anyway.

The forces we commit to Turkey to fight ISIS...
...will free up forces for Turkey to kill our friends the Kurds.

If Turkey wants to play “grown up”, they can commit the forces THEMSELVES to take out a murderous group of scum buckets IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY.

Why not..?

I mean we fight wars for Khurds
Wars for Iraqis
Wars for Israel
Wars for Afghanis

With examples like that of what money-loaded suckers who care little for the lives of our own people, why shouldn’t Turkey ALSO try to get in on some of the action..?

We’d be NUTS to accede to this request and we should get out of all our other stupid, expensive, needless wars.

I’m OK with training and arming the Yazidis, Armenians, and Kurds and letting them take care of Daesh and Turkey.

Why should we help Turkey rebuild the Ottoman Empire?

If they want to get the band back together, they should do it on their own.

A simple regime change would do the trick.

Ceausescu-style or non-Ceausescu-style.

Your choice, Mr. Erdogan.

assuming anything in this article is even true, you just know the Turks would use any military aid to wage war against the Kurds ...

Erdogan can just as easily ask Russia to assist...the fact he didn’t speaks volumes.

Syria & Russia have mostly defeated ISIS in Syria. Turkey was aiding them.

Let’s leave and let Syria finish off the remnants. They are okay with the Kurds, whereas Turkey wants to genocide them.

This drift is getting bad.
