Donald Trump said on Friday that he does not plan to declare a national emergency – a day after suggesting he would “probably” do so.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting over the government shutdown and the border wall, Trump said: “What we’re not looking to do right now is national emergency.”
The president instead urged Democrats to “come back and vote” in Congress in a bid to end the government shutdown.
Trump insisted he had the right to declare an emergency, but said: “I’m not going to do it so fast”, according to a White House pool reporter.

Declare the emergency, BUILD THE WALL, then it wont be an issue for the liberals bitching about non-essential sucklettes not getting paid today for not working last week.

The Donald chose his words carefully on this one. “ right now” is the key phrase that means keep up the “ no deal” and I will do it then.

Trump did not say he would never declare a national emergency, just that he would not do so right now. Better to let the Dems twist in the wind for another week or so and keep that Ace in the sleeve.
He needs to hold off on that until we know more on RBG. He can’t be in the middle of a fight like that and trying to get someone through the approval process.

I'm hopeful that if another "caravan" forms and proceeds toward the border POTUS will act. At least I pray he will.
The problem is that if he sets the precedent by declaring a national emergency to carry out a project...some future Dem president, say, Occasional Cortex, could do the same thing for something like “Green Climate Control” or whatever her wacky project is.
