Ocasio-Cortez, Newsom, other Dems in epic smackdown to see who is most radically left

Another week, another feverish contest among Democrats to see who can drag the party faster and farther to the left. The new year is beginning with a blistering pace, with wild and crazy ideas popping up across the country.

Start in Washington, where Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi made a lasting impression by saying no, no to President Trump’s sensible proposal for barriers and other security at the southern border. Their rejection, and implicit denial that there is even a problem, serves as an invitation to hundreds of thousands of more migrants to cross illegally. And each new wave guarantees that future Dems will be able to demand amnesty for successive generations of “Dreamers,” thus roiling America for years.

Heckuva job, Chuck and Nancy. You should start a podcast, where you each get your own podium.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, already the left’s congressional rookie of the year, added to her appeal by making a push to tax the richest Americans at 70 percent of their income. She also continues to campaign for a Green New Deal, a set of ideas so big — and vague — that a Vox writer said it aims to do nothing less than “decarbonize the economy and make it fairer and more just.”

Wow — it’s hard to be more of a purist than that.

Meanwhile, new California Gov. Gavin Newsom signaled his virtue by promising his state would be a “sanctuary to all who seek it.” He also expanded free health care for illegal immigrants, apparently hoping to attract more of them. Bravo!

The competition, then, was stiff — until New York City Mayor de Blasio blew them all away. He wins first prize by vowing womb-to-tomb handouts and a permanent push for more free stuff.

This is why they will lose in 2020.

Whomever the Democrats nominate will be the one who can capture the socialist movement. That person will run on single-payer and free stuff.

They will not run against Trump’s performance as POTUS....which will be the centerpiece of his campaign.

They will run on a platform of changing things when times are good.....and that rarely works.

“..womb-to-tomb handouts and a permanent push for more free stuff.”

I think I would clarify that more as “cradle to tomb”, as the left and their pro-choice mantra make it tough to get to the cradle.

What could possibly go wrong? After all, the same plan has already been implemented elsewhere...Venezuela.

OAC and her ilk have the same views as the dem dinosaurs. The difference is the old ones know how to hide their agenda to get re-elected each year.

New Yawk gov, Cuomo is trying to out-liberal NYC's mayor Wilhelm De Blasio.
The New Yawk "Safe Act" was a premature release of Cuomo's down-state liberal philosophy.
The reality is that the Governor's liberal actions don't fit into upstate,
once you get further than 40 miles out of NYC.
He caters to the liberal voting block of NYC liberals,
and ignores upstate (except for Buffalo)
while trying to be liberal relevent.

I hope so too.

However, there are many, many people out there who are attracted to Democratic policies -- marginal, low intelligence or morality, over-feminized, stunted. These were the ones who voted AOC into office. I predict that by 2028, when she is old enough to run for POTUS, they will be the only ones left in the Democratic party. But they will be a substantial presence. Right now, they are lionizing her because of her youth, gender, and ethnicity, as well as her Cinderella story.

Promise me that you support Purges, Show Trials, Gulags, and Secret Police. Promise that that, and I'll vote for you ...

... in the Democrat Primary.

When they were indoctrinating all of these new liberals, they forgot to tell them that they were not allowed to talk about what liberals really want to do.

I agree with you about the overall trend of politics....we are sliding towards socialism and nothing is going to stop it.

Trump is a temporary pause, just like Reagan.

In between those two, and in the years after, the march towards socialism will continue.

But right now, we all need to focus on 2020 and keeping Trump in place. We need to work harder in the primaries to replace RINOs and give Trump the House back.

We can worry about 2024 and 2028 after that.

The great contest to pick the next Khan of the Democrat Party has begun. The old Khan - Hillary the Great has faltered. Early money is on Fauxahontas with her super power involving pulling tomahawks out of her nether regions.

“Ocasio-Cortez, Newsom, other Dems in epic smackdown to see who is most radically left”

so it’s started already ... can’t wait for the Dem Prez primaries and debates for 2020 ... there will be NO voices of reason ... only leftists trying to out-leftist each other ... the “winner” will make Stalin, Lenin, Marx, and Mao look like pikers ...
