Steve King slams GOP leaders for 'political decision' over comments on white supremacy

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Monday denounced GOP leaders' move to remove him from all committee assignments, calling it a "political decision that ignores the truth."

“[House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.)] decision to remove me from committees is a political decision that ignores the truth," King said in a statement shortly after McCarthy told reporters that the Iowa congressman would not receive any committee assignments in the new Congress.

King was previously a member of the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. He had also served as chairman of a House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice in the last Congress.

The decision to strip him of those assignments came just days after King questioned why terms such as "white nationalist" and "white supremacist" were offensive in an interview with The New York Times.

"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” King asked in the interview, which was published last Thursday.

The comments generated criticism from Democratic and Republican lawmakers, with McCarthy saying over the weekend that action would be taken in response.

King said that his comments have been "completely mischaracterized."

"When I used the word ‘THAT’ it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced," King said. "My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech."

He added that he "ultimately" told McCarthy: "You have to do what you have to do and I will do what I have to do."

Two Democratic lawmakers on Monday introduced resolutions to formally censure King over his statements. House Democrats are expected to place a resolution to formally rebuke him that was introduced by Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) on the floor for a vote on Tuesday.

The proglibs are constantly gunning for Steve because he is VERY big on border control.

He has been to the border many times going back at least 12 years.

Same knee-jerk reaction when NRO ousted Derbyshire. They are trying to score holy points.

Yep...McCarthy was simply using the NYT propaganda piece as a PRETEXT for removing King. McCarthy worships and serves the SWAMP as his god.

I don’t know exactly what King meant and haven’t heard any audio of the discussion. But I’ve rarely heard the terms “white nationalist” and “white nationalism” used in my lifetime. In the USA, those terms are almost newly minted and used by the left to hang on white Americans who believe in national sovereignty and who believe immigration laws should be enforced.

It’s just more of the left’s use of words as political weapons, something they do incessantly.

I’m glad King is rocking the boat. It needs to be turned over and new pieces added.

Still waiting for the censure of the Palestinian dolt that called Trump a m*******cker. Further proof that the GOPe are a bunch of pantywaists and losers. If they had been in charge during the WWII years, we'd all be speaking a weird mix of German, Italian, and Japanese.

Why does Steve King want to serve the deep state?

King is being Alinskyed. He supports Western Civilization and doesn't want Western nations to be inundated by 3rd world savages.

A Polish woman in Germany had her unborn baby killed, stabbed several times.

Is this the type of world we want to live in?

I’m Pro-White. I love being white. What is wrong with White Pride? There is Black Pride, Latino Pride, Brown Pride, Homo-Pride; pride..pride pride. So I am proud of what my White race has accomplished? Yeah, FULLY proud. I am a WHITE NATIONALIST. I love my country, I love my culture; I love that multi-generations of my WHITE family have served protecting this country including myself (4th generation) and my son now a 5th generation. Seems the reverse racists don’t want to acknowledge us White people risking it all. Fuck them. I am absolutely done with cowering to PC race bullshit.

King will be gone from Congress by Friday. Only POTUS can survive a racially tinged firestorm like this. Led by the feckless McCarthy and McConnell the Stupid Party rides again.
