A new poll by the Pew Research Center shows a big part of the reason why the standoff over funding President Trump's border wall has been so impossible to solve: Republican support for the wall is higher than at any time since Trump's election, while Democratic support has dwindled to almost nothing.
The big picture: When the divide has gotten this big, it's hard to see how the government shutdown ends. Although a majority of the public still opposes the wall, Republican support is so high that Trump and GOP leaders would face a furious backlash if they reopen the government with no wall funding. And Democrats would face an even stronger backlash if they agree to fund the wall.
By the numbers:
•Overall, 58% of the public opposes expanding the wall along the border with Mexico, while 40% supports it.
•And a slight majority — 51% — says funding the wall would be unacceptable even if that's the only way to end the shutdown. Just 29% say reopening the government without wall funding would be unacceptable.
•But a clear majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents — 63% — don't want Trump and the GOP to end the shutdown without wall funding.

Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument. If one fails to establish the premise to his argument, one almost always fails to convince others of his conclusion. On the other hand, if one establishes a premise one will more than likely get others to agree with his conclusion.

If the reporter we’re honest which he is not he would find out and know that the wall represents the end to any and all honest elections in the future because of the numbers of illegal aliens which would be voting Democrat registered Democrat get driver’s licenses and free stuff.
A whole lotta good can come from this.

What are the numbers among registered voters/likely voters? Probably more in favor of the wall.
Pew is leftist propaganda, so the Trump team’s internal polling is probably better.
Same polls said hillary was winning by a landslide.
I doubt this, and it depends upon how the survey was worded and who responded. I read one poll last week that said over 70% support the wall. Clearly, something is amiss.
The Senate needs to confirm lots of good judges.
Ridiculous. The majority of the people may not care, but there is no decent reason for anyone to "oppose the wall". The Democrat leadership has reasons -- cheap labor, sex trafficking, additional new voters who want government benefits. Democrat politicians can profit from open borders.
But the majority the public? How on earth do they profit from an open border? The open border is all negative for the man on the street. He may not care about the wall. He may support the wall. But oppose the wall??? That's something only SJW do -- and they are not the majority of the public.
If the majority of the public was really opposed to building the wall, why don’t Democrats and their fake media amen chorus talk about it?
Instead they talk up Russia, Russia, Russia and Trump being a McDonalds snob.
If they were winning the shutdown fight, it should be easy for them to talk about how building a border wall is bad for the country.
They can’t and they change the subject at every opportunity. It isn’t a winning issue for them and they’re playing with a weak hand.
You pretty much nailed it. There is simply NO WAY 56% of American voters are opposed to a border wall. That is like saying most Americans would like to slit their own throats.
The shutdown ends because it is the democrats peo0le and agenda that gets hurt the most by the shutdown.... A no brainer really.
It will end, and it’s not a shutdown. It’s a partial freeze on funding.
Never believe with any certainty any facts a RAT obtains to describe you.
Trump should pivot and make this about downsizing government.
Ax those that haven’t been to work in 30 days, anyone hired by Obama, and anyone not loyal to Trump’s agenda.
Just massive downsizing will give us more than enough money for the wall and win millions of votes.
Polls are b.s. political spin these days. Trump won in the only poll that mattered - the election.
