Gregg Jarrett: Mueller's team knew 'dossier' kicking off Trump investigation was biased and defectiv

Prosecutors on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team investigating alleged “collusion” between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia knew all along that the anti-Trump “dossier” compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele that fueled their probe was biased and likely phony.

Yet instead of investigating those individuals at the FBI and Justice Department who actively participated in the dossier fraud – as he should have done – Mueller hired several of them to investigate Trump.

Newly confirmed congressional testimony of former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr shows that he warned both the FBI and the Justice Department that Steele was “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected.”

This conspicuous bias should have been enough to deposit the dossier – a series of memos from Steele – into the nearest trash can. But top FBI and Justice Department officials were determined to damage or destroy President Trump. So they ignored Steele’s patent prejudice and sought to exploit his dubious document – despite Ohr saying of the dossier: “I don’t know how reliable it is.”

These same FBI and Justice Department officials also deliberately disregarded the source of Steele’s funding –Trump’s political opponent, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

And incredibly, the officials concealed all of this vital information from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court in obtaining a warrant to spy on a Trump campaign associate. But that’s not all. They used the Steele report to launch the original Trump-Russia “collusion” investigation.

The sordid scheme began on July 5, 2016 – the very day Clinton was cleared of mishandling classified documents by FBI Director James Comey.

As Comey was twisting the facts and contorting the law to absolve Clinton, an FBI agent was meeting secretly in London with Steele, who had composed the first of his memos.

Agree.

How many times have we read the same story with the same claims with the same end results? Nothing happens.

Tick Tock. Bombshell. Boom. Nothing.

Unless someone does something with the information there's no point in reading about it anymore.

You'd think there would be a few Republicans who might take the opportunity to make waves but no one does anything.

Are they terrified of the deep state exacting revenge if they investigate? Is it the UniParty protecting itself?

I don't think the left, and a lot of delusional echo chamber politicians understand what has happened over the past 3 years. The genie won't be put back in the bottle. If they got rid of Trump tomorrow, or a month from now, or whenever, it wouldn't reverse what has happened.

There is a huge swath of America who are beyond tired of elitist politicians ignoring them instead of representing and serving them. They will never allow control of the message like the left WAS used to. Further, the illusion perpetuated by the political establishment, that politicians are ‘exceptional’ and only professional politicians can ‘run the country’, has been broken and won't be reestablished. It's now clear that not only can private sector people function in public office, but that they actually do a much better job than the feckless narcissists who have been parasitizing the American taxpayers for decade upon decade.

It would not be surprising in the least if the electorate generally gravitate away from voting people into office from within the career politician community. Even among liberals this may be true - e.g. the election of the entirely politically inexperienced and unconnected junior Congresswoman from NY.

I’m wondering what parts of DOJ (that are not compromised by the Weissman/Yates/etc stain of treason), can bring charges against all these SOBs both in court and before a new grand jury?

I ask this since the whole question of a competent FBI/DOJ leadership is at the crux of what should happen to these people.

Can any FBI/DOJ, Ethics/Integrity units bring charges of any kind re unprofessional, unethical, and corrupt practices against all those involved in the “Dossier” to FISA court train?

Can DOJ’s Criminal Investigations Division bring charges? The same for the FBI’s equivalent unit, i.e. Criminal Division?

The same for the DOJ and FBI “National Security Divisions” or equivalent?

We’ve got to get the investigation of these POS out of the hands of those who (with the help of others still in office) committed these crimes and into the hands of a new Special Prosecutor. I don’t know what Investigator/Counsel Huber is doing and when it will bring forth Findings, Recommendations, and/or Indictments. We can’t wait until next year.

What charges can be brought against the DNC, Hillary Campaign, Fusion GPS, Perkins-Coie (money laundering? for illegal purposes), David Corn (the hardcore Marxist writer - Mother Jones, formerly with the Nation), Michael Isikoff (Yahoo, Newsweek or Time), Christopher Steele (foreign national interfering in a U.S. election), and the “perjury trap” characters (Halpern, Greenburg, etc)?

What can Senate Republicans with their powerful committees do NOW with this cast of villains? Enforce subpoenas, for ONCE? Ask for grand jury investigations? Ask that all of them who are/were federal employees LOSE their pensions, benefits and security clearances (forever).

Can (I know that Page is doing this) Papadopoulous, Manafort/Gates?, even the SOB Cohen, etc. sue for “entrapment”, defamation of character (a tough one for some of them), lose of livelihood/money, lose of their homes etc.?

Time to Shit or Get Off The Pot for Senate Republicans, honest DOJ leaders, honest FBI leaders, and the White House, led by the President.

Gore’s Secret Agreement with Russia

News of a secret agreement signed by Vice President Al Gore and then-Russian Prime Minister, Viktor Chernomyrdin was met by a deafening silence, helping to shield Gore from being identified with a major new scandal. The Senate planned hearings on this agreement to enable Russia to ship conventional weapons and nuclear technology to a nation high on the State Department list of those engaged in state sponsored terrorism. In addition, the letter specifically stated that its contents would not be conveyed to the U.S. Congress.
This story should have strongly impacted the presidential race between Gore and Governor Bush. It broke on Friday, the 13th, when the New York Times ran a front page story that Gore had signed this agreement in 1995 without telling Congress, in violation of several laws, including the underlying Iran-Iraq Arms Nonproliferation Act, known, ironically as the Gore-McCain act, after its chief sponsors.
The agreement allowed Russia to fulfill existing contracts with Iran, including submarines, torpedoes, anti-ship mines and tanks. One is left to wonder if part of the shipment may have been involved in the recent act of war against the U.S.S. Cole, killing seventeen Americans in the port of Aden. According to Senator McCain, who only found out about this when the New York Times reported it, after, they said, copies of the letter and related classified documents were provided to them by a concerned government official.
In addition, the agreement calls for Russia and the U.S. to seek to prevent the “undermining of the nuclear arms non-proliferation program,” yet it says that Moscow will continue to build a nuclear reactor, train the technicians in Russia, and deliver nuclear fuel to Iran through the year 2011. This clause, according to Bill Gertz of the Washington Times, “appears to violate a provision of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Act, which requires the Clinton administration to keep Congressional oversight committees fully informed of all issues related to nuclear weapons proliferation”.
Even Gore’s chief foreign policy adviser, Leon Fuerth, admitted that Russia had failed to live up to its promise to not deliver any more weapons to Iran after the cutoff date of December 31st, 1999, and called it a “unilateral decision by the Russians to modify the terms of this understanding,” which has to rank as classic Clinton-Gore-speak for downplaying a potentially major scandal.
We have seen no coverage of this story on any of the three major broadcast network news, and other than the Washington Times, we have seen virtually no follow-up to the original New York Times story. A Wall Street Journal op ed piece by Bush’s senior foreign policy adviser argues that this is part of the pattern of Gore’s foreign policy experience. The Russians are able to thumb their nose at the U.S., and violate this agreement, because the Clinton administration is held hostage to its own agreement, since it had never been released. We can only imagine the storm over this if this had been done by a Republican administration./snip
