It’s becoming clear the Judiciary including the SC is going to protect the DACA people. The Rats know this so Trump has no leverage there, which handicaps his negotiations.

Not really, since he hypothetically at worst would only have to wait for getting his 3rd SC nomination on the court to handle that.

No reason to involve DACA here. If he caves now, which he seems to be doing (presumably this is just a formality for an already done deal), he also will lose the 30-day administrative notice to RIF hundreds of thousands of useless, Obama-loyal federal employees.

Some Obama appointee in Illinois is not “the judiciary” and the Supreme Court has not even signaled what they think of DACA.

What is the basis of your assertion?

On the contrary, he is giving up nothing, as you have noted, but it sounds good. The Democrats will look bad for turning it down. Just good political negotiations.
