McConnell: Senate will vote next week on Trump plan.....

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he will take up legislation next week incorporating the deal President Trump outlined in a Saturday afternoon address .

The Republican’s move to bring the deal up for a vote will put political pressure on Democrats in both chambers, who through their leaders publicly rejected Trump’s proposal Saturday afternoon.

It would take 60 votes to advance the measure in the Senate, which means Republicans will need the support of seven Democrats to pass the measure, assuming no GOP lawmakers vote against it.

McConnell said in a statement after Trump’s announcement. “With bipartisan cooperation, the Senate can send a bill to the House quickly so that they can take action as well. The situation for furloughed employees isn’t getting any brighter and the crisis at the border isn’t improved by show votes. But the President’s plan is a path toward addressing both issues quickly.”

Trump’s offer would provide a three-year extension of protected legal status for those enrolled in the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. As part of the trade-off, the proposal calls for $5.7 billion for a border wall.

It’s amazing how fast Mitch can get a vote on something we haven’t the slightest desire to be approved.

In over two years, he couldn’t once call a vote on funding the border wall.

Well the Government wasn’t shut down either..........it appears to get congressional leaders to act takes such a move to get them of their rear ends........They’re all just a bunch of cowards and self serving career leeching politicians.....fluffing their nests is the 24/7 hour agenda otherwise.

DO, Trump has punked him too! So it ends up looking like our President has to shame both sides into getting to work.

But wasn’t it fun to watch the “Pelosi Cruiser” going roundy round the Capitol Building the other day with seven RAT inside $hitting themselves. I understand Adam Schitt had nothing to say when he got off. Hope he had a pan load to get rid of.

We really don’t want this and I can’t see it passing the house or senate...
But what if it does ?

Presently, zero chance of passage with the House....I think the Senate might get all of the GOP votes, and two Democratic votes. So it’ll just linger there.

At the end of this, the real question is whether the Wall will accomplish what is necessary? The answer won’t be pleasant to hear. There’s at least a dozen things which need to be done to permanently resolve the immigrant problem.

Adding to the mess...there are at least five to ten million illegals in the US (so we are generally told). The bulk of them are employed in some fashion. Even if you resolved most of the immigration issues...how you handle that ten million after all the repairs....is a major question. The economy, whether we like it or not, now requires these people to function. The ones who’ve been around for ten to twenty years, with no arrests or convictions....might be worthy of granting a visa or work-permit.

We provided an amnesty in the 80s under Reagan. No more.

What this also does is show the supposed Daca recipients that the Democrats abandoned them.

I don’t think the DACA recipients care. All they know right now is they are winning in Court. Most of them don’t know that eventually the USSC will hear it. And with Ginsberg that’s a wildcard.

I also think they feel Nancy will protect them. I posted on twitter last night that even Obama got it through with a Dem congress and Presidency. My tweets went unheard.

It is a scary time.

Tell them to leave the keyboards alone and do not remove the silverware...

Hopefully, THIS TIME, McConnell will insist upon a REAL filibuster, not another pro-forma fake “filibuster-light”.

Requiring the Dems to stand in the Senate and testify about WHY they oppose re-opening of the government should be a sobering experience for them. And for their constituents.

IMHO, if McConnell puts pressure on those rotten eggs, they will crack!
