Yes, Trump can’t just remove them. There is due process and a many years backlog of immigration cases and with catch and release many of the arrested are never to be seen again.

If he just throws them out like Eisenhower, 9th Circuit will stay, not to mention weeks long bad press that he is a dicator and not following the rule of law, and dems will likely talk impeachment 24/7.

One HUGE advantage of this deal is that Congress would have to get their fingerprints all over the DACA deal. In order to get President Trump to sign the legislation into law, that would mean 1) make the Obama EO obsolete and 2) have Congress put a deadline on how long the DACA's have protection under the law.

Of course, that assumes that President Trump would add requirements like that in exchange for his signature. Watching the Dems codify the termination date would be a great time to invest in popcorn futures.

Ike's ‘Operation Wetback’ (imagine that being used today) had general support of a majority of the political class and Americans. Harry Truman's INS had done a lot of the operational planning and the Dems also wanted this done. The Korean War was over, the need for masses of workers now while rapidly expanding the armed forces and drawing on the smallest pool of draft eligibles (those born in the Great Depression) which made looking the other way about border jumpers a pragmatic solution n longer was valid. The labor unions were exerting pressure on the Dems to deport illegals who were then , as now, acting as a wage deflator. Even the black ‘civil rights’ organizations were quietly but persistently pressing for a crackdown on illegals as they would work for even less than black laborers and gave no backtalk as they were here illegally. Ike fully agreed and the size of the illegal problem was growing exponentially. So he put retired fire eater Lt Gen Joseph (Jumping Joe) Link in charge of INS and told him to execute the operation as though he were executing an o plan on the battlefield. It worked and the plan was executed with such dispatch and ‘zeal’ that illegals thought long and hard about coming to the land of the big BX. There is no national consensus today and more than half the political class want the ‘demographic’ changed for a variety of reasons.

That is related to illegals and their asylum cases when they first breach the border. There is nothing stopping POTUS from using existing immigration enforcement laws from removing illegals.

Simply enforcing immigration laws on the books is "not throwing them out." When word of Eisenhower cracking down on illegals hit, many other illegals left on their own free will.

I don't care about the media or what they're going to say about Trump. Trump can enforce existing laws to remove illegals, which will actually light a fire under Dems and change the asylum and other loopholes.

Everything. Obama and his party did his best to radicalize people against “whitey”. The country is not the same now as it was then.

The country back then thought more like one people, had more in common with each other. The minority folks that were here thought “American” first, and other things second.

There are blocks of people of various races that are embittered thanks to democrat/liberal brainwashing and manipulation.

The majority of Americans want the border secured and illegals sent packing.

There is no political consensus because the debate has been hijacked by the Left, the messaging by conservatives is not emotional, and illegals are being romanticized and equated to the immigrants of the 19th century that helped build America.

Because the other was worse. At least McCain helped the GOP hold the Senate. That is the logic. Many now have had enough. I voted that way often. No more. Nobody in the GOP or even most conservatives are pointing out these facts:

- Liberals advocating for illegals are protected by walls and armed guards.

- Democrats simply want the votes of illegals (who'll get citizenship) so they can remain in power forever.

- Nobody cares about the environmental damage illegals are doing to national forests along the border and Rio Grande river.

If Republicans bring up these points, they would control the narrative.
