Senate Leaders Agree on Possible Path to Reopening Government
National Review via Yahoo ^ | January 22nd, 2019 | Mairead McArdle

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and minority leader Chuck Schumer have agreed to a deal that could end the partial government shutdown, which entered its 32nd day Tuesday.

Under the deal, the Senate will vote Thursday on two bills intended to end the shutdown. One bill includes President Trump’s request for $5.7 billion to construct a wall at the southern border, and one would fund the government entities affected by the shutdown through February 8, kicking the fight down the road until then.

“People are saying isn’t there a way out of this mess, isn’t there a way to relieve the burden on the 800,000 federal workers not getting paid, isn’t there a way to get government services open first and debate what we should do for border security later?” Schumer said in announcing the deal. “Well, now there’s a way.”

About 800,000 federal workers are currently missing their paychecks as a result of the shutdown, which has broken the record for the longest in U.S. history.

Earlier Tuesday, Schumer panned the president’s weekend proposal to end the shutdown, which included restrictions on the ability of immigrants to claim asylum.

McConnell allowing a vote to fund government through Feb 8th, and undermining POTUS.

How many Republicans will vote for it?

Toilet scum.

If they reopen it, that might cause a recession.

Just a way to make Trump veto the bill and force the shutdown on him. At least that’s how the MSM will report it.

McConnell is close to making the GOP extinct. Let’s hope that what little spine he has holds up.
I for one, trust only Trump.
As for the GOP, it can kiss my Obamahole.

Neither bill will pass. Vote on funding the wall first. If it doesn’t pass then the second won’t pass. Trump still has to sign it either way.

There better be a roll-call and not some voice vote. So much for the turtles promise to only vote on something the POTUS agrees with.

“How can a spending bill originate in the Senate...?”

How can a single Federal judge give orders to the President, the military, the Congress, and etc?

The Constitution is no longer in effect. That’s how.

If there is a choice, Plan A. Funds Wall., Plan B.’Postpones’ funding, we all know which the Dems will choose.
Not rocket science.

McConnell better KNOW that if the first one doesn’t get passed, then he better NOT let the second pass!

I think what they are proposing is that POTUS gets his $5.7M, but it won’t necessarily be used for a wall, and that decision gets kicked down the road to the 8th.

To say this is weaselly is an insult to weasels, if this is what this means.

Deep questions to ponder in our time -

How many republicans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

How many republicans does it take to screw you?

“How many republicans does it take to screw you?”
Given McConnell’s performance, I think I hear a banjo.

McConnell is getting played by Schmucky again.

Trump should announce he will veto the funding bill unless both bills pass.
