GOP returns to tax cuts, economy in 2020 election....
washingtonexaminer. ^ | 1/22/2019 | Paul Bedard

“The post-election data show the Republicans’ economic message was seen positively by a large majority of voters, more positively than the Democrats’ message. Republicans can take heart that their economic policies not only seem to be working; but when voters understood what was in the tax bill, they favored Republicans by a comfortable margin. The problem was only 32 percent of this year’s voters knew about the key provision in this important legislation or how it would positively impact them,” said the analysis.

And Winston is encouraging the GOP to return to bread-and-butter issues in 2020. “Republicans should refocus on the economy, their economic record, and solutions to household issues as first steps toward rebuilding their majority coalition for 2020,” he said.

Braun and the expanded caucus of business leaders in the Senate and House are itching to do that.

“It is our mistake as a party and it’s our mistake as business owners and entrepreneurs, if we don’t keep that in the limelight,” said the newly minted senator.

Braun said that, in 2020, the focus will be even more scattered, since there will be lots of attention on Democrats running against Trump. And, he added, the economy might not be as strong as it is today.

“We’ve got to get it right in the next two years," he said.

What’s more, he said that more Republicans have to return to the economic message that has worked for the GOP since former President Ronald Reagan’s days.

“Somewhere along the line there have to be other disciples picking it up, and I intend to be one of them to the extent that I can get them to listen,” he said.

Woo hoo...I just entered all my data into Turbotax and, for the first time in many, many years...I’M NOT ITEMIZING and the bottom line tax for 2018 is very nice. Thank you Donald Trump and Republicans!

It’s still about whether or not we keep our country.

There MUST be a fence.

There MUST be enforcement.

Cutting off benefits and employment will encourage self-deportation.

NO AMNESTY!

And no A.M.T. The complexities of the AMT calculations was why I used Turboax every year.

Tax cuts without a border are pointless except for those who (a) are extremely wealthy, or (b) don’t really give a damn about anyone else so long as their own current lifestyle and wealth are plentiful. A lot of conservatives fall under ‘b’.

I suspect stable employment and rising incomes are much more important than tax cuts to most swing voters.

Lol. Like the GOPe scum would actually carry through.

Only a few GOP politicians actually seem to have tried to carry through on campaign promises.

One of course is President Trump, who doesn’t really count as GOP or a politician. While he ran as a Republican, he is a patriot and not really a politician although he plays the game well. Also, President Trump has actually managed to successfully carry through on a lot of his promises. A lot of those are not covered by the LSM, but can be found at sources especially here. Some Freepers complain he has not carried through on all already. Frankly I am shocked he has managed to do as much as he has given that he is opposed by the Demscum, GOPe (I know, redundant), deep state (redundant again), and most “mainstream” media (redundant yet again).

Another one is Lindsey Graham - although I am still wary about him given his past positions. To be fair through he has seemed to turn a corner. Ted Cruz looks pretty solid too. A few other Senators and Representatives, but not many.

A lot of the rest of the GOP and especially the GOPe? I trust them less than Demscum. At least the Demscum are being honest about what they intend: 70% tax rates, stifling of free speech, banning citizen ownership of firearms, letting non-citizens vote, destruction of our sovereignty, etc. They aren’t hiding anymore.

The GOPe? They just lie to us per polling but are really part of the unitparty with the Demscum etc. listed above.

This is just an effort at redirection on the part of the feckless GOP because they really don’t want that WALL.

No.

National security plus the wall, nothing else will do.

Continue on the Koch brothers path, and Republican party can go the … I don’t care.

Don’t let Flimsey Grahamnesty fool you.
As soon as he is re-elected he will back to pushing amnesty.

Yes... Tax cuts, border enforcement, voting reform and return of education to the local government. The issues for 2020...

This won’t be enough this time.
This is the same old roadmap they have been running since Reagan.

They need to aggressively show the American People that CA wants to run the country and bring the fruits and nuts to everyone.
Frankly I’m not convinced the GOP-e can pull it off.

They had their chance over the last two years. The current dem House won’t go along with anything rational. Therefore Trump issues EOs and nominates judges ... and that’s about it.

Well you are free to be ungrateful for what Trump and this administration has accomplished in ‘just two years’.....and be skeptical about the next 6.......If I've learned anything about Trump and those who advise and support him it is VERY unwise to underestimate what can or not be done...and stupid if you put limitations on the man. There are cynics, there are skeptics who say it cannot be done. .but "in the light of history, it is more intelligent to hope rather than to fear, to try rather than not to try. For one thing we know beyond all doubt:... Nothing has ever been achieved by the person who says, ‘It can’t be done.’”

Unless we stop massive LEGAL immigration, it won’t matter what issues we campaign on.

Frankly, I think it’s already too late.

Anybody know how Trump is going to win Florida in 2020?

Florida just restored the voting rights of 1 million felons, most of whom are Black and Hispanic.

Trump won Florida by 113,000 votes in 2016.
